More information on Luke Lea I received my copy of the July 2006 Tennessee Bar Journal yesterday and with delight read “Luke Lea’s Trial,” by Jack H. McCall and Donald F. Paine. If any of your readers want a fuller exposition of these events, I would direct them to Caldwell & Company, written by my father, John Berry McFerrin, nearly 70 years ago. The book was reissued in 1969 by Vanderbilt University Press and is available in many libraries. — Philip North McFerrin, McHenry, Ill. TTLA President Greer is from Dunlap, not Paris I appreciate your including my news release that I sent to you last month in the Bulletin Board. However, someone did not correctly look at the press release I sent, as the publication incorrectly identifies me with the law firm of Greer & Greer in Paris, Tenn., which is a long way from Dunlap. The information I sent to you did reflect that I practice in Dunlap, which your article also noted. I have been confused before with the Steve Greer from Paris, who I understand is a fine lawyer, although we have never met. If he is willing to help me with this job, I just might be willing to share the title with him. — Stephen T. Greer, Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association president, Dunlap Editor’s note to both Mr. Greers: We have since looked on a map and regret the error. Thanks for pointing it out to us.
