Toll free numbers for Katrina Victims' legal assistance

 

Three 24-hour toll free telephone numbers have been established for victims of Hurricane Katrina who are in need of legal assistance. The numbers, for residents of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama respectively, will connect callers with lawyers licensed in those states who will answer questions and offer free legal advice on problems caused or worsened by the disaster. A joint project of the ABA's Young Lawyers Division and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the hotline numbers are:
