Answering the Pro Bono Challenge
The TBA Access to Justice Committee is committed to help realize the Pro Bono Challenge issued by Chief Justice Frank Drowata that every law firm in the state of Tennessee should develop and implement a formal pro bono policy.
Toward that end, the Committee has collected a number of sample pro bono policies and even developed a kind of model policy that reflects the elements possible for a number of different types of pro bono policies. This model policy, as developed by the Access to Justice Committee, is set out below, as are a number of the policies the Committee looked at in developing its model policy.
It is the hope of the Committee that the sample language reflected in these policies will make it unavoidably easy for law firms to take up the Chief Justices Pro Bono Challenge and to adopt formal pro bono policies.
