Jackson Will Create Audit Committee to Address Budget Concerns

The Jackson City Council last Tuesday addressed concerns by the Tennessee Comptroller regarding the city's budgeting process, the Jackson Sun reports. Since 2016, the city has issued debt without the comptroller’s approval and received a warning that it can no longer do so and must implement an audit committee to address the issue. The committee will be comprised of councilpersons and community members, with the council responsible for vetting for conflicts of interest and approving nominees.
