Tennessee Supreme Court Academy

Event Types:
CLE Programming
Date:
Thursday, October 1, 2015 - 8:15am

The Tennessee Supreme Court is unfamiliar territory for most lawyers. Opportunities to practice in this court are few and success requires skills of oral and written advocacy. A persuasive performance in both areas is important to success; a poor performance in either can lead to defeat. Accordingly, lawyers need the information and insight required to develop and perfect their oral arguments and legal writing. Indeed, this is true at all levels of legal practice, and the lessons learned during this seminar will be generally applicable to practice in trial courts.

The TBA Dispute Resolution Section has designed this seminar for attorneys who understand that legal advocacy is not inconsistent with the process of a mediated settlement.  To achieve the best results, an advocate must let go of adversarial tactics, not because they're wrong or unfair, but because they can create barriers to the best outcome for the client.  Come and learn what to replace them with! Good advocates want to know how to best prepare and take advantage of the mediation process.
