TBA FRENCH TOUR 2010
Experience France now like you never have before. Plan to join your colleagues from the Tennessee Bar Association on an exciting seven-day, six-night trip to beautiful and historic France, starting on Saturday, June 19, 2010. You will experience history at Omaha Beach, wonder at Mont Saint-Michel, be delighted at the quaint port of Honfleur, see Giverny through Monet’s eyes and much more.
Knowledgeable guides will take you to some of the most beautiful and historic parts of France. After landing in Paris, you’ll travel to the city of Caen, nestled in the peaceful scenery of the Lower Normandy region and visit the Mémorial Museum and more. From a base there, you will travel throughout the region, sampling its history, culture, architecture and cuisine.

THE BAYEUX TAPESTRY
The nearby city of Bayeux is home to the famous Bayeux tapestry. Made in the 11th century, this woolen embroidery of 70 meters in length and 50 centimeters in height, traces the conquest of England by the duke of Normandy, William the Conqueror. The city itself is also a treasure. Spared during the war, the medieval town has preserved a rich architectural heritage, with its Gothic cathedral and old alleyways lined with town homes and old timber-framed residences.

MONT SAINT-MICHEL
Emerging from a bay on blocks of granite, the island monastery Mont Saint-Michel played an important role in the region’s history from the sixth century until the French Revolution. Today, you can visit the Gothic church and the rest of the island that has been classified by UNESCO as a masterpiece of the world heritage.
HONFLEUR
The picturesque port of Honfleur has been the subject for countless painting and photographs. You will be able to experience this beauty and enjoy the charming shops that line its winding streets.

D-DAY LANDING BEACHES
The Allied invasion of German-occupied France began on June 6, 1944, and left thousands dead before Omaha and other beaches were secure. You’ll have the opportunity to visit the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach and see history come alive at the D-Day museums that tell the story of the invasion.

CALVADOS DISTILLERY
The apple orchards and brewers in this region are mentioned as far back as the 8th century by Charlemagne, and the cider brandy of today is still romanticized in popular culture. Just check what James Bond was drinking in Ian Fleming’s novel “On Her Majesty's Secret Service.”

GIVERNY
Giverny was home to impressionist painter Claude Monet for 43 years. Today, you can still see the wondrous gardens that inspired him and countless artists since then.
