Hometown Support Program Overview

Find Out if You Meet Income Guidelines to Get Help

Hometown Support is a program that makes free legal help available to service members and their families with limited income who are facing legal problems in Tennessee.

The program is coordinated by legal services offices across the state. The designated staff person in the office serving the area where the applicant resides or where the problem arises will talk with the applicant to determine her or his financial eligibility and the nature of the legal problem.

The applicant’s family income must be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level to be considered for free help.

Where to go for help?

• Find the legal services office near you from the map of Tennessee.
(Note: There may not be a lawyer to help every person with every case. If no lawyer is available, the applicant will be referred to the best available resource for help.)

• Outside of Tennessee? Generally the only help will be a referral to a legal aid office in another state. The other state may or may not be able to help and there are limited problems for which this will be a resource.
