The Knoxville law firm of Winchester, Sellers, Foster & Steele PC announced that Elizabeth Anne Bowden has joined the firm as an associate. Bowden earned her law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2015 and her undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee in 2012. Her practice is focused primarily on commercial, banking and bankruptcy/creditor’s rights law.

Harris Shelton Hanover Walsh PLLC has added Jerry Potter, Tim Hayes Jr., Karen Koplon, Jonathan Martin and Taylor Davidson to the firm’s Memphis office. Potter, Hates, Koplon and Martin are joining the firm as members, and all have significant experience representing health care professionals in medical malpractice litigation. Davidson joins Harris Shelton as an associate and concentrates his practice in medical malpractice defense, health care law and general civil litigation.

Several Tennessee attorneys have been selected as fellows of the Construction Lawyers Society of America (CLSA). They include William G. Colvin, Timothy Gibbons and David Garst. The CLSA is an honorary society, whose members are identified by invitation only. Fellows are selected based upon excellence and accomplishment in construction law and closely related specialties, from the transactional level to trial and appellate levels, and superior ethical reputation.

Dawn Davis Carson has been named Defense Lawyer of the Year by the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association (TDLA). Carson was presented this award at the TDLA’s annual meeting this September in Memphis. Carson is a partner in the Law Firm of Hickman, Goza & Spragins PLLC. She concentrates her areas of practice to insurance defense and commercial litigation.

Rudy Winstead Turner PLLC announced that Shelby Mathews has officially become a lawyer, after joining the firm as a paralegal in September 2015. While working at the firm she continued her law school education at Nashville School of Law. She has worked on many complex cases involving estate planning, commercial business and commercial real estate.

Attorney Travis M. Lampley, of Parkerson Santel PLLC in Murfreesboro, has been listed as a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Family and General Civil Mediator. Lampley has a background litigating cases involving divorce, custody, parentage, personal injury, employment, property disputes and probate matters.

The Knoxville law office of London Amburn PC announces that Jason H. Long, immediate past president of the Tennessee Bar Association, has joined the firm as a shareholder. Long will be practicing in the litigation section of the firm, focusing primarily on health care litigation. During his term as TBA president, he focused on the need of the profession to adapt to the evolving legal marketplace.

Jennifer L. Sneed has joined the law firm of Bourland, Heflin, Alvarez, Minor & Matthews PLC as an associate, practicing in the areas of probate and estate planning. She is a 2016 graduate of the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and former judicial law clerk to the Hon. Karen D. Webster of Shelby County Probate Court.

Glassman, Wyatt, Tuttle & Cox PC attorney Ronna Kinsella was recently selected to serve as the publications chair for the Professional Liability Committee of the Defense Research Institute (DRI). Kinsella previously served as vice chair of publications for the committee in 2016. The Professional Liability Committee covers all types of professional liability defense, including design professionals, lawyers, accountants, insurance providers, real estate professionals, financial advisors, educators and the clergy. The committee regularly contributes scholarly updates on new legal developments, recent case law and emerging trends through electronic newsletters and DRI’s flagship magazine, For the Defense.

Beal, Green, Nations & Crutcher announces the opening of a new law office and mediation center in Franklin/Cool Springs. Donna L. Green is a Rule 31 Listed Family Law Mediator, handling mediations for high-conflict parties and divorces involving complex financial issues in Williamson County.

Batson Nolan PLC is pleased to announce that Lauren W. Safley has joined the firm as an associate in the estate planning practice area. Safley earned her law degree from the University of Tennessee School of Law in 2017.

Whitney Goode Horak, a senior associate attorney at Hagwood Adelman Tipton’s Memphis office, graduated from the inaugural class of the Long-Term Care (LTC) Power Lawyers program, an educational program designed to train young lawyers in the intricacies of long-term care trial practice. Kristi Wilcox Arth, an attorney at Bradley’s Nashville office, has received a 2017 Outstanding Committee Chair Award from the DRI Young Lawyers Committee. Arth was recognized at DRI’s annual meeting in October for her service as chair of the Wellness Subcommittee for the DRI Young Lawyers Committee over the last year. She was also the Tennessee Bar Journal’s Fiction Contest winner for 2017.

The full U.S. Senate confirmed State Senator Doug Overbey as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Tennessee Nov. 9. Overbey said he was grateful to Sen. Lamar Alexander and Sen. Bob Corker for recommending him to President Donald Trump, and was “excited about the opportunity to combine my avocation in public service with my vocation as a lawyer.” The appointment will be official once Trump signs Overbey’s commission documents.
