To help state policy makers better understand the growing practice of unbundling of legal services, in which lawyers partner with a client to accomplish discrete tasks rather than provide complete representation, and pro se-or self-representation, the American Bar Association Standing Committee on the Delivery of Legal Services has created a new web site, The Pro Se/Unbundling Resource Center, online at http://www.abanet.org/legalservices/delivery/delunbund.html.
To provide affordable legal services to the middle class, lawyers are beginning to unbundle their services, the ABA has found. In such instances, clients may engage in pro se representation, representing themselves in portions of their case. As unbundling grows in popularity, many states are amending their ethics codes and rules of procedure so that more people can benefit from a lawyer's input in resolving their legal matters.
