Earlier this year, the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law team participated with distinction in the Pace Environmental Moot Court Competition in White Plains, NY. In a letter from Professor David Case of the law school, he thanks the TBA Environmental Section for its donation to the program, which helped defray part of the cost of the team's travel to White Plains. Additionally, members of the section helped prepare the team by judging rounds.
The Memphis team advanced to the quarterfinal round after competing in the preliminary rounds against such law schools as American University, Georgetown University, the University of Michigan, the University of Oregon, and Seattle University. Presiding judges named Leigh Thomas of Memphis Best Oralist in two of the team's three preliminary rounds.There were 73 teams from law schools around the country competing.
