4 Vacancies to be Filled by Special Appointment

The YLD Board will fill several leadership positions at its Summer Meeting June 15 in Nashville. Two seats reserved for young lawyers in the TBA House of Delegates are considered vacant because no candidates filed by the election petition deadline, while two district representative positions are vacant due to special circumstances. Lawyers interested in being considered for these positions should contact YLD President David Veile at dveile@sbdlaw.net or (615) 550-2800 by May 13.

TBA House of Delegates Seats
Two young lawyers seats in the TBA House of Delegates are vacant and must be filled by the YLD Board. Delegates serve for two years and will attend their first meeting Sept. 27 in Nashville. The positions are:

  • Young Lawyer Delegate, Middle Grand Division
  • Young Lawyer Delegate, West Grand Division

District 2 Vacancy
The current District 2 Representative has relocated her office and residence outside of the district, which makes her ineligible to continue in the position. A new district representative will need to be appointed to complete the one year remaining in her term. The individual would then stand for election in 2014. Applicants must maintain an office or residence in the district to be eligible for consideration. District 2 covers the counties of Anderson, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Fentress, Grainger, Jefferson, Scott, Sevier and Union.

District 6 Vacancy
With the election of current District 6 Representative Rachel Moses to the position of vice president, a new district representative will need to be appointed to complete the one year remaining in her term. The individual would then stand for election in 2014. Applicants must maintain an office or residence in the district to be eligible for consideration. District 6 covers the counties of Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Jackson, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Van Buren, Warren and White.
