Former Chancellor Kilcrease Dies

Irvin H. Kilcrease Jr., a former Davidson County chancery court judge who served on the bench for more than two decades and was one of the Nashville School of Law’s first African-American graduates, died Monday night. He was 80. Kilcrease was appointed to the bench in 1980 and served until his retirement in 2003. He previously served as an assistant U.S. attorney in Nashville and worked in private practice and as a public defender.
