GOP Senators Block Nominee for D.C. Appeals Court

GOP senators on Tuesday blocked another of President Obama’s picks to fill a vacancy on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. On a vote to end procedural delays, the Democratic leadership fell four votes short of advancing the nomination of Cornelia Pillard, a Georgetown University law professor, the Associated Press reports on Republicans have blocked votes on two other Obama nominees to the same court this year, attorneys Patricia Millett and Caitlin Halligan.
