Haslam Declines to Intervene in Planned Execution, Court Still Reviewing

Gov. Bill Haslam said today he will not intervene in the scheduled execution of death row inmate Edmund Zagorski, which is set for Thursday, TNJ: On the Hill reports. "While Zagorski has exhibited good behavior during his incarceration, that does not undo the fact that he robbed and brutally murdered two men and attempted to kill a police officer while on the run," Haslam said. The Tennessee Supreme Court is still reviewing the execution. It heard arguments on Wednesday concerning a challenge to the lethal injection protocol that would be used to carry out the execution, the Tennessean reports
