Senate Committee to Consider LSC Funding Cuts

A U.S. Senate subcommittee will consider proposed cuts to funding for the Legal Services Corporation when it meets tomorrow. Earlier this month, the House Appropriations Committee voted to cut LSC funding by 24 percent. The Trump administration’s budget slashes LSC funding entirely, while the House’s proposal cuts $85 million. Lawyers and legal groups across the country, including TBA, are speaking out against the devastating impact of the proposed funding cuts. Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander serves on the Appropriations’ Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies that is considering LSC funding levels and can be reached at (202) 224-4944.
