Stevens, Albright and Doar Also to Receive Presidential Medal

If you are in Tennessee, you probably heard the shouts from Knoxville last week when it was announced that legendary women's basketball coach Pat Summitt will be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom this year. On the list of 13 recipients, however, are also former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens; former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, the first woman to hold that position; and civil rights hero John Doar, who was assistant attorney general in charge of the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice in the 1960s.
