American Bar Association YLD -- The ABA YLD is accepting applications through Friday for its subgrant program, which provides funding for bar association activities that benefit local communities, leaders or members. The group will hold its next meeting -- the Spring Conference -- in Minneapolis May 16-18. Jackson Madison County Bar Association YLD -- On Feb. 14, The JMCBA YLD partnered with Mags and Lulu, a children's clothing store in Jackson, for Shop & Support -- an event benefiting the Therapy & Learning Center with a portion of the day's retail sales. Knoxville Bar Association Barristers -- The Barristers will hold its next meeting on March 13 at 5 p.m. at the Bistro by the Bijou. The February happy hour is taking place tonight at the Downtown Grill & Brewery from 5 to 7 p.m. The group reports that its team running in the YWCA Diversity Day and Race Against Racism 5K did very well with one team member taking second place in the male 20-24 age group and two taking second and third place, respectively, in the female 25-29 age group.
The group also has announced several volunteer opportunities:
- The Access to Justice Committee is planning a veterans' benefits clinic for the summer. Contact Troy Weston or Ian Hennessey for more information.
- The Hunger and Poverty Relief Committee is seeking law firms to volunteer one Saturday morning a month to sort and package food at the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. Contact Rachel Hurt for details.
- Volunteers are needed to serve breakfast at the Volunteer Ministry Center on the fourth Thursday of every month. Contact Will Kittrell or Alan Moore to get involved.
- Legal Aid Saturday Bar clinics will be held March 9 and 23 in Knox County and March 23 in Blount County. Contact Terry Woods for more information.

Memphis Bar Association YLD -- The MBA YLD has launched its annual Basketball Law League, which kicked off with a draft on Feb. 21. Games will begin in early March. On March 20, the group will hold a happy hour at the Energy Fitness gym, and in April it will host a night at the Grizzlies. Finally, the group announced the date of its annual golf tournament, which will take place Oct. 4 this year at Glen Eagle Golf Course in Millington.
