Chattanooga Bar Association YLD – The TBA YLD and Chattanooga YLD are teaming up with Wilson & Associates Court Reporting to host a holiday party and fundraiser on the Delta Queen Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. All Chattanooga young lawyers and spouses are invited to attend. Guests are asked to bring a children’s book, which will be donated to the Hamilton County Juvenile Court for use in the new children’s area being constructed by the Chattanooga YLD. Knoxville Bar Association Barristers – The Barristers’ annual meeting and elections will be held Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. at the Bistro. All eligible lawyers are invited to attend. The following officers will be elected: vice president, secretary/treasurer and two at large executive committee seats. Individuals nominated to date are: Kathryn St. Clair Ellis of Legal Aid of East Tennessee and James P. Moneyhun Jr. with Egerton, McAfee, Armistead & Davis PC for vice president; Baily Perry Bowers with the Office of Disability Adjudication & Review and William H. Kittrell with Egerton, McAfee, Armistead & Davis for secretary/treasurer; and Brad Craig with Lewis King Krieg & Waldrop, Rachel Hurt with Arnett, Draper & Hagood, Melissa C. Reinders with McDonald, Levy & Taylor, and Matt W. Sherrod with Howard & Howard for members-at-large. Also at the meeting, current vice president Katrina Atchley Arbogast with Lewis, King, Krieg & Waldrop will automatically become president. She will serve through the end of 2013.

The Barristers also recently announced that its annual Angel Tree Project, which provides Christmas gifts to needy children in the area, will run through Dec. 17. Firms or individual attorneys may compete in three categories: raw pound count, bonus pound count for high-demand items (such as peanut butter, canned meat, fruit and vegetables, and cereal) and pounds per attorney. The competition benefits Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. Memphis Bar Association YLD – The MBA YLD elected new leaders at its annual meeting on Nov. 15. Congratulations to President Annie Christoff, Vice President/President-Elect Jake Dickerson, and board members Nicole Bermel, Maggie Cooper, Nicole Grida, Christina Kurdilla, Irwin Magevney, Matt May, Jonathan Nelson, Keisha Richardson and Janika White. Also at the meeting, the group awarded the 2012 Chancellor Charles A. Rond Memorial Award for Outstanding Judge of the Year to Shelby County Chancellor Kenny W. The group also will host a phone-a-thon to benefit Memphis Area Legal Services (MALS) on Dec. 5. Volunteers will be calling fellow young lawyers in Memphis and the surrounding areas. Nashville Bar Association YLD – When the NBA holds its annual meeting and elections on Dec. 6, a young lawyer will join the ranks of the "big bar's" board. Among the new leaders to be announced is Matt Potempa, a solo practioner who has been active in the NBA YLD as well as the TBA YLD. Nashville lawyer Robert Bigelow also will take over as president of the NBA YLD from Sarah Reynolds. The event will take place at the Wildhorse Saloon in downtown Nashville.
