Tishler to Lead Legal Aid Society Fundraising Campaign
From the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 18, 2013 - Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands announced today that Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis Partner and Chairman John Tishler will serve as the 2014 campaign chair of the Campaign for Equal Justice.
This campaign is an annual initiative that raises funds for Legal Aid Society, Tennessee’s largest nonprofit law firm, and the Nashville Pro Bono Program.
“John will be a great leader for our campaign,” said Gary Housepian, Legal Aid Society’s executive director. “He is a strategic and business-savvy lawyer who is talented at motivating people. His selfless attitude and manner are a perfect fit for the committee, and he has already shown his commitment to the campaign.”
Tishler is an insolvency and restructuring attorney by trade, and he speaks in both the transactional and litigation arenas. Tishler has a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. He is a member of the Advisory Committee on Rules of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the American Bankruptcy Law Institute. He was previously president of the Tennessee chapter of the Turnaround Management Association.
Tishler is also a board member of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Franklin Road Academy and Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee Inc.
“I’m pleased to lead the Campaign for Equal Justice next year and help raise the money we need to provide free civil legal assistance throughout 48 Tennessee counties,” Tishler said. “Legal Aid Society and the Nashville Pro Bono Program are critical to helping more than 7,000 low income Tennesseans every year. I am honored to be a part of their mission in 2014.”
Tishler also has assembled a campaign committee for the 2014 campaign. They are:
• Large firm co-chairs: Robert “Bob” J. Mendes of Frost Brown Todd LLC and Todd J. Rolapp of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC
• Small firm co-chairs: Spruell Driver Jr. and W. Casey Reed
• Government attorneys chair: Saul Solomon of the Metro Nashville Law Department
• Judges co-chairs: The Hon. Philip E. Smith, 20th Judicial Dist., Div. IV, and the Hon. Rachel Bell, General Sessions Court, Div. VIII
