April 7 Deadline Set for TBA Executive Director Candidates

Candidates interested in applying for the position of Executive Director of the Tennessee Bar Association must indicate their interest by April 7. The Executive Director oversees the TBA’s 25-person staff operation in Nashville, and is responsible for leading, managing and executing the affairs of the association and implementing its policies to the overall benefit of the organization and its membership.

In addition to having experience managing staffs and budgets, the successful candidate should have planning and leadership skills that inspire staff and members alike. It is also important to possess experience or familiarity with current and emerging issues and concerns affecting practicing lawyers and the legal profession. In fulfilling its mission to advocate for the profession and for our system of justice, the TBA maintains relationships with the legislature and the courts. The Executive Director oversees the association’s governmental affairs activities and experience in that arena is a plus. The Executive Director should be an adept communicator, comfortable with the responsibility of acting as a spokesperson and advocating for the TBA and its mission when called upon to do so.

Founded in 1881, the TBA is a voluntary association of Tennessee licensed lawyers. Membership represents the entire spectrum of the Tennessee legal community, from private practitioners to judges, government and legal services attorneys, and corporate counsel.

Indications of interest, inquiries, applications and nominations should be directed through email by April 7 to:
