Ms. Chessia Cox is a practicing attorney who is currently located at 130 East Washington Avenue, Suite 7, Athens, TN 37303. A lifetime resident of McMinn County, Ms. Cox graduated from McMinn County High School in 2000 and went on to obtain her Associate of Science Degree from Cleveland State Community College, with a focus on Pre-Law in May 2002. Ms. Cox then transferred to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she received her Bachelor of Arts for English (Pre-law) with a minor in History in May 2004.
Immediately following her graduation, Ms. Cox applied for and was accepted to the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia. She graduated with her Juris Doctorate Degree in 2007, along with a certificate for "Lawyer as Problem Solver," which means that she completed 120 hours of training in negotiation, mediation, and arbitration.
Ms. Cox was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 2008 and was immediately hired as an Assistant Public Defender for the Tenth Judicial District (which includes McMinn, Monroe, Polk, and Bradley Counties). She eventually left the Public Defenders Office in 2012 in order to pursue her dream of becoming a private practitioner.
Ms. Cox currently focuses on the areas of Criminal Law, Juvenile Law, Estate Planning and Probate, Contract Formation and Disputes, and Landlord/Tenant Law. Ms. Cox is also a Rule 31 Listed Mediator for both General Civil Law and for General Family Law.
When asked about her main goal for her business, Ms. Cox has expressed on numerous occasions that she loves helping people from her community and wishes to provide quality legal service in order to help them with their various legal problems and needs.
Currently, Ms. Cox practices in McMinn, Monroe, Polk, Bradley, Meigs, Blount, and Loudon Counties.
