Kati Sanford Goodner is a Knoxville native and graduated cum laude from Wake Forest University with specific honor designation in English and minors in Italian and International Studies. She attended the University of Tennessee College of Law, where she was named a University of Tennessee Law Scholar, one of the highest scholarships awarded, and graduated magna cum laude in 2011. During law school, Kati was actively involved in the Law Women organization, where she served in the roles of President and Philanthropy Chair. She also spent three years as an LSAT and GMAT instructor with a national test prep corporation. Kati focuses the majority of her practice on litigation, specifically in the areas of pharmaceutical, products liability, and insurance defense. She is adept at handling all phases of complex litigation, having significant experience in numerous ongoing MDL cases, both in Tennessee and across the country. She is comfortable managing complex medical records and working with experts ranging from highly-specialized physicians to professional engineers and geologists. A significant portion of her practice also includes Adoptions, both domestic and international. Her experience as a research-assistant for the treatise "Bogert's Trust & Trustees" allows her to advise and represent clients with intricate issues related to trusts and fiduciary duties, as well, including significant experience in Estate and Trust litigation. She also enjoys devoting a portion of her practice to representation of nonprofit organizations in the East Tennessee area. Kati is admitted to practice in all state courts in Tennessee, as well as the Eastern and Middle Districts of Tennessee. She is a member of the Knoxville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations, and enjoys being actively involved in the Barristers division of the Knoxville Bar Association, where she currently serves as Member at Large, and the Young Lawyers Division of the TBA, where she serves as the Representative for District 3. She also serves on the Board of East Tennessee Lawyer’s Association for Women (ETLAW) as the Membership Chair and has been a member of DRI since 2010. Outside the office, Kati enjoys volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children involved in custody and parental termination cases and is actively involved in the children’s and adoption ministries at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church. Kati is an avid equestrian and enjoys travelling with her husband, Nathan.
