Katie Dageforde joined the Tennessee Medical Association (TMA) in November 2012 as assistant general counsel. The TMA is a professional organization for doctors dedicated to protecting the health interests of patients and enhancing the effectiveness of physicians throughout the state. Katie’s practice focuses on providing materials to help physicians comply with health care laws and regulations and advocating on behalf of physicians with state healthcare agencies and the legislature. Specifically, Katie’s areas of concentration are in state and federal insurance laws and policy, as well as health system reform. Katie is also the staff liaison to the TMA Insurance Issues Committee. Katie graduated from Saint Louis University School of Law with her juris doctor and a Certificate in Health Law Studies in May 2012. During her time as a law student, Katie interned with the Missouri Medicaid Fraud Control Unit in the office of the Attorney General. She also completed a legal externship with Lutheran Senior Services, a multi-state long-term care facility chain, and worked as a research associate for Health Capital Consultants, a health care valuation firm. Katie also graduated cum laude from The University of Alabama in 2009 with a BA in communication studies.
