Harris Shelton Hanover Walsh, Memphis, Tennessee 2006 – June 2012 Associate Attorney • Successfully obtained summary judgment in trial court for major local company in wrongful death case where plaintiff sought over $300,000 in damages resulting in client savings. Tennessee Court of Appeals upheld (2008); • Instrumental in negotiating settlement on behalf of plaintiff (client) during discovery phase in $3 mil. suit against major national corporation for the torts of assault, false imprisonment and negligent hiring. (2009); • Obtained directed verdict during bench trial in premises liability case for major hospital where plaintiff sought damages in the amount of $250,000. (2009); • Successfully negotiated a settlement between members of Limited Liability Company where expelled member contested her membership interest and sought return of more than $15,000 in capital contributions; • United States v. Assisted in jury voir dire, preparing cross-examination for government witnesses. • State of Tennessee v. Maurice Puryear (2011). Pro bono state criminal matter involving two counts of aggravated assault, one count of tampering with evidence; and one count of felon in possession of a weapon. Worked closely with the Assistant District Attorney and the State Mental Hospital. Client pled guilty and served 7 months and was released on parole based on testimony of counsel and his mother. Ewing Moving Service, Inc. Memphis, Tennessee 1995 – 2003 Quickly accelerated from Assistant to the President to Manager of the logistics department to a key position as the Director of Sales and Marketing based on proven management, leadership, strategic planning and organizational and client communication skills. • Led a major marketing team in creating of a new brochure and strategic television, radio and print media campaign; • Developed and implemented strategic business and development plan that increased company revenue by 100% -- from less than $1 million to over $2 million in less than 5 years; • Created all company job descriptions and responsibilities for over 40 employees for the production and implementation of a new company policy and procedure manual; • In assisting the President, had the responsibility of travelling to coordinate relocation meetings for corporate clients with relocations in excess of $10,000; • Successfully completed claims analyst class with the American Moving and Storage Association and implemented a new procedure for the formation of a claims department and claims processing center; • Led a staff of 4 in logistics department; and • Represented company to clients; developed long term relationships with new and existing clients.
