I am a third-year law student at the University of North Carolina and a graduate of the University of Tennessee. In law school I am a staff member on the North Carolina Banking Institute Journal which focuses on issues in corporate, finance, and banking law. Additionally, I am the vice-president of the Transactional and Corporate Law Association and I am on the executive board for the International and Comparative Law Organization. Both of these activities give me the opportunity to lead others in law school and organize events. Last summer I worked for Weatherly, McNally, & Dixon in Nashville. While at the firm I worked on a number of different cases. Primarily, I assisted with a 6-day long jury trial carried out to verdict. In preparation for this trial I wrote jury instructions, composed bench memoranda, and researched case law. By working directly with partners and a diverse client base I observed firsthand the value of excellent representation as well as the importance of the attorney-client relationship. Additionally, last spring and summer I worked with Orrick, Herrington, & Sutcliffe, LLP and Public International Law & Policy Group on memoranda about international law and human rights issues. This research and collaboration exposed me to international transactional law and human rights issues facing the world. Before coming back to Nashville I worked at the District Attorney's office in Wilmington, North Carolina. At the DA's office I researched and wrote memoranda of first-impression concerning elder law and fraud. As an undergraduate I majored in “Spanish and World Business.” This allowed me to study about the nature of economic development and international business, while also giving me the opportunity to learn a foreign language and take my studies abroad. Apart from my studies, I traveled extensively, participating in humanitarian and education efforts.
