Education: B.S. Carson-Newman University, 1981 (magna cum laude) J.D. University of Tennessee, 1984 (High Honors and Order of the Coif). I have thirty years of experience in civil litigation, including extensive experience in representing clients involved in complex litigation. Some of the areas of litigation in which I have practiced include government related contracts, construction, business, and commercial, products liability. In the area of construction law, I have represented owners, contractors, and design professionals. I enjoy taking an active role of service to the legal profession. I have served as the President of the Knoxville Bar Association, President of the Hamilton Burnett American Inn of Court, and President of the Knoxville Barristers. I am a fellow of the Knoxville Bar Foundation and serve on its Board of Directors. I have served as a member of the Special Committee on Lien Law of the Tennessee Bar Association. This committee drafted legislation to improve Tennessee's Mechanics and Materialmans' lien law. I am also a member of the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel and the International Association of Defense Counsel. I enjoy participating in community service work and have served on boards including the Carson-Newman University Alumni Board and the Health Ventures Board to the Baptist Health System.
