Tommy Santel is a managing attorney for the law firm PARKERSON | SANTEL PLLC in Murfreesboro. He has an extensive background in criminal law. Tommy has previously served as an Assistant District Attorney General for the Sixteenth Judicial District, Rutherford County and Cannon County, Tennessee. As an Assistant District Attorney, Tommy was active in courtroom trial practice, where he was involved in the prosecution of all types of criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors to major drug and felony offenses. Following serving as a state prosecutor, he continues to focus on criminal defense in his practice. Tommy practices in both state and federal courts throughout Tennessee. He practices in both trial and appellate courts. In addition to his law practice, Tommy is an adjunct professor in the Department of Criminal Justice Administration at Middle Tennessee State University. On various occasions, he has had the privilege of speaking to law enforcement agencies, bar associations, university students and to community organizations on topics of search and seizure, search warrants, traffic stops and other criminal law related issues. Tommy is a member of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, and the Rutherford County and Cannon County Bar Association. Tommy was selected and serves as a mentor for young and new attorneys through the Tennessee Bar Association. He is a past president of the Rutherford County and Cannon County Bar Association. Tommy has had the privilege of speaking at legal education seminars on issues related to the ethical responsibilities and obligations of Tennessee attorneys, criminal law related issues and defending "your" case. Tommy received his undergraduate degree from Middle Tennessee State University where he studied Criminal Justice Administration. He received his law degree from Nashville School of Law in 2004.
