Mr. Panther’s practice primarily involves commercial litigation and arbitration, with a concentration in construction law.  Mr. Panther has over 20 years of experience as a construction law attorney advising clients on the applicability and compliance requirements of Tennessee’s construction laws.  Mr. Panther also serves as an advocate for clients in complex litigation and arbitration involving disputes over commercial and residential construction projects.  Mr. Panther’s expertise includes the prosecution and defense of construction defect and warranty claims, lien claims, delay and disruption claims, and a wide variety of other complex construction disputes.

In addition to construction law, Mr. Panther’s practice includes advising clients in connection with landlord-tenant disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, and a wide variety of other commercial disputes, and he serves as an advocate for clients in complex litigation and arbitration involving such disputes.

In 2009, Mr. Panther was appointed to the American Arbitration Association’s panel of construction arbitrators, and that year he was listed as a general civil mediator by the Tennessee Supreme Court.

Mr. Panther has handled well over 100 arbitrations, trials (jury and non-jury), and appeals in state and federal courts.  Mr. Panther has been admitted to practice before the courts of the State of Tennessee, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Tennessee, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Panther is also a leader in the legal community.  From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Panther served on the Board of Directors for the Nashville Bar Association.  From 2002 to 2008, Mr. Panther served as chairman of the special committee of the Tennessee Bar Association which proposed wholesale revisions to the Tennessee lien law that were enacted by the Legislature in 2007. In 2003, he was appointed legal counsel to the Middle Tennessee State University Construction Management Advisory Board.  In 2004, Mr. Panther became a member of the inaugural class of the Leadership Law Program of the Tennessee Bar Association.  Also in 2004, Mr. Panther became one of only nine attorneys who formed the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel.  And from 2006 to 2008, Mr. Panther served as chairman of the construction law section of the Tennessee Bar Association.

Mr. Panther also volunteers his time to speak on legal topics that are within his areas of expertise.  Among his speaking engagements, Mr. Panther has taught seminars on Contract and Warranty Provisions (1999, 2003, 2005), Tennessee Construction Lien and Payment Law (2001-2012), Eminent Domain in Tennessee (2002, 2003), Strategies for Effective Contract Negotiation (2003), Fundamentals of Construction Law (2004), Effective Use of Mediation in Construction Cases (2011), Open Issues with Tennessee’s Retainage Law (2012), and Landlord-Tenant Obligations (2013).
