Wynne du Mariau Caffey is a member in Elmore, Stone & Caffey, PLLC. She received her undergraduate degree, with highest honors, in 1986 from the University of Tennessee, followed by her law degree, with honors, in 1991. She has been licensed in Tennessee since 1991 and in Texas since 1992. Ms. Caffey is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the American Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association. As a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, she has served on the Membership Committee and currently sits on the newly-created Mentoring Committee. She is a past-President of the statewide specialty bar, the Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women, having previously chaired the CLE Committee and currently chairs the Committee on Elected and Appointed Officials. As the TLAW President, she was a guest member of both the Tennessee Bar Association’s Board of Governors and the Tennessee Judicial Conference’s Executive Committee. She was appointed to the TBA Glass Ceiling Taskforce. Under her presidency, TLAW conducted focus groups in Nashville, Knoxville, Memphis and Johnson City involving attorneys from private, corporate, government and academic settings to identify practice barriers and “best practices” for use by the Taskforce in rendering its statewide report. She is also a past-President of the regional specialty bar, the East Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women. At the request of then Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice Clark, for the past four years she has served on the Pro Bono Advisory Committee to the Tennessee Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Commission. Ms. Caffey is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association Board of Governors and is a Fellow of the Knoxville Bar Foundation. She is an actively participating member of several committees, each of which she has served on for many years, including the Access to Justice (Co-Chair), Interprofessional Relations (former Co-Chair), Unmet Legal Needs of Children, Membership, Law Office Technology, Functions, and Work/Life Balance committees. She taught Advanced Trial Practice for many years as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law. She has frequently been a guest lecturer to graduate-level students at the University of Tennessee and has given seminars to her legal colleagues and other professional groups on issues ranging from medical malpractice, Medicare Appeals, tort law updates, negotiations, complex litigation trials, law firm management, ethics and access to justice issues. Her practice is exclusively in litigation (medical malpractice , commercial, products liability and insurance defense). She and her husband Wayne Knight have four children, Hunter 20, Maegan 19, and Richmond and Dalton, both 17.
