I  <  ` OnJanuary4,1995,BobbyLee,KennethLeeandLarryEstesdrovetoNashvillefromtheirhomeinMilan,Tennessee,forthepurposeofpurchasingcocaine.BobbyLeehadpreviouslypurchasedcocainefromawomannamedLatonyaCliftatherapartmentinNashville.LeecontactedLatonyathepreviousdayandsetupapurchaseofthree(3)ouncesofcocainefor$2,700.WhenBobbyLee,KennethLeeandEstesarrivedatLatonyasapartment,Latonyaandhersister,Glenda,werenotthere,buttheappellantandLarrySimswerepresent.Shortlythereafter,LatonyaandGlendareturned,andthegroupwaitedonLatonyasdrugsuppliertoreturnhertelephonecall. ` Whiletheywerewaiting,BobbyLeewalkedupstairsintheapartmenttousetherestroom.Ashewasreturningdownstairs,hewasinformedthathehadatelephonecall.Ashepickedupthetelephone,heheardagunshotcomingfromthekitchen.E EE E  #  1      ׀Heheardanothershot,andasheturnedaround,heobserved l6 -. Simsshootingtowardshisbrother,Kenneth.Kennethranoutoftheapartment,holdinghimselfasifhehadbeenshot. ` Atthesametime,Bobbyfeltbulletshittinghimintheback.Whenheturnedaround,hesawtheappellantshootinghim.BobbyLeeattemptedtoflee,butfellontopofEstes,whohadalsobeenshot.SimsjumpedontopofLeeanddemandedthe$2,700,whiletheappellantsnatchedaringfromLeesfinger.Inanattempttosavetheirownlives,bothLeeandEstes playeddead.TheappellantandSimsthenlefttheapartment.LeeandEstescrawledoutside,andLeeobservedhiscarpullingoff. ` Asaresultoftheirinjuriessustainedfromtheshooting,BobbyLeewashospitalizedforoveramonthandEsteswashospitalizedforapproximatelythree(3)days.KennethLeediedasaresultofasinglegunshotwoundtothechest. ` LeescarwasrecoveredlaterthateveningafteraMetropoliceofficerobservedtwo(2)menpushingthecaronaroadway.Theofficertraveleduptheroadwayandthenturnedaroundtoinvestigate.Whenhereturned,thevehiclewasonfire.Thevehiclewascompletelydestroyedbythefire. ` Theappellantwassubsequentlydevelopedasasuspectintheshooting,andlawenforcementauthoritiesbeganlookingfortheappellant.OnJanuary5,officerslocatedtheappellantatthehomeofhisauntanduncle,buttheappellanttoldtheofficersthathisnamewasTonyJones.Thenextday,theofficerswereagainabletolocatetheappellant,andagain,theappellantstatedthathisnamewasTonyJones.However,theofficerswereawareoftheappellantstrueidentityandtookhimintocustodyatthattime.TheappellanthadinhispossessionabusticketunderthenameofTonyJoneswhichwasscheduledto leaveforDallas,Texas,onJanuary6at2:00p.m. 7.0  ` Whileincustody,theappellantgavetwotapedstatementstothe detectives.Inhisfirststatement,theappellantclaimedthatLarrySimswasthesoleshooterattheapartmentonthedayinquestion.HestatedtothepolicethathewaspresentattheapartmentbecausehewashelpingLatonyamove.Oncetheshootingbegan,theappellantleftthebuilding. ` However,aftertheofficersnotedvariousinconsistenciesintheappellantsstatement,theappellantgaveasecondstatement.Inthisstatement,theappellantclaimedthatLarrySimsandoneofthemenfromMilanwereinthekitchentalkingwhensomeonefiredaguninthekitchen. Theothertwomen  beganrunningtowardsthekitchen,andbecauseoneofthemenhadaweaponinhispossession,theappellanttriedtograbhisarm.Thegundischargedonce,andthebullethitthefloor.Theappellantthengainedcontrolofthegunandshottwice,oneshothittingoneman,andtheothershotdirectedattheothermanEEEE  #  2      ׀In  P themeantime,Simswalkedintotheroomandshotatoneofthemenaswell.Accordingtotheappellant,hethenranoutoftheapartment. ` Theofficersphotographedtheappellant,andLeeandEsteswereaskedtoviewaphotographiclineupofpossiblesuspects.Bothvictimspositivelyidentifiedtheappellantasoneoftheperpetratorsintheshooting. ` Theappellant,Sims,LatonyaCliftandGlendaCliftwereindictedonthechargesofconspiracytocommitfirstdegreemurderandaggravatedrobberyinCountOne,premeditatedfirstdegreemurderofKennethLeeinCountTwo,firstdegreefelonymurderofKennethLeeinCountThree,especiallyaggravatedrobberyofBobbyLeeinCountFourandattemptedfirstdegreemurderofLarryEstesinCountFive.Theappellantstrialwassubsequentlyseveredfromthatof 6,. hiscodefendants.EEEE  #  3      ׀ThestatedismissedCountThreeoftheindictmentonits `  ownmotion,andthejurywasunabletoreachaverdictastoCountsOne,TwoandFiveoftheindictment.However,thejuryfoundtheappellantguiltyofespeciallyaggravatedrobberyasallegedinCountFouroftheindictment.Fromhisconviction,theappellantnowbringsthisappeal.@rr- II     ` Inhissoleissueonappeal,theappellantchallengesthesufficiencyoftheconvictingevidence.HeassertsthathewasconvictedbaseduponthetestimonyofLeeandEstes,andtheirtestimonywasinconsistentandconflicting.Therefore,hecontendsthatnorationaltrieroffactcouldhavefoundtheessentialelementsoftheoffensebeyondareasonabledoubt.@EE- A.  "@  ` Whenanaccusedchallengesthesufficiencyoftheevidence,thisCourtmustreviewtherecordtodetermineiftheevidenceadducedduringthetrialwassufficient tosupportthefindingsbythetrieroffactofguiltbeyondareasonabledoubt.Tenn.R.App.P.13(e).Thisruleisapplicabletofindingsofguiltpredicatedupondirectevidence,circumstantialevidenceoracombinationofdirectandcircumstantialevidence.Statev.Brewer,932S.W.2d1,19(Tenn.
