àFollowing€a€jury€trial€and€sentencing€hearing,€the€defendant€was€convictedÏof€criminal€attempt€to€commit€second„degree€murder€and€sentenced€to€ten€yearsÏimprisonment.€€He€now€appeals,€arguing€that€the€evidence€is€insufficient€to€sustain€hisÏconviction.€€We€affirm.ÌÌà ¨ àà àAt€trial,€the€victim,€James€Frierson,€testified€that€on€February€27,€1996,€heÏwent€to€Henry€Shortððs€house€to€drink€beer€and€use€cocaine€in€celebration€of€being€drug„¼free€for€ninety€days.€€The€victim€and€Short€called€a€man€known€as€ð ðYo„Yoðð€and€asked€himÏto€come€to€the€apartment€to€sell€them€cocaine.€€The€victim€testified€he€bought€twenty„fiveÏdollars€($25)€worth€of€cocaine,€œñ®ñopenlyñ®ññ¯ñconspicuouslyñ¯ñ›€paying€ð ðYo„Yoðð€from€a€large€roll€of€moneyÏhe€had€in€his€front€pocket.ÌÌà ¨ àà àApproximately€forty„five€minutes€later,€according€to€the€victim,€the€defendantÏknocked€on€the€door€of€Shortððs€apartment.€€The€victim€knew€the€defendant€and€knew€thatÏthe€defendant€was€friends€with€ð ðYo„Yo.ðð€€The€defendant€asked€the€victim€to€come€outsideÏwith€him.€€The€victim€followed€the€defendant€to€the€parking€lot,€where€a€car€driven€byÏYakou€Murphy,€whom€the€victim€did€not€know,€was€waiting.€€The€defendant€climbed€intoÏthe€car€behind€the€driver,€and€the€victim€sat€in€the€front€passengerððs€seat.€€Immediately,Ïthe€victim€noticed€a€.38€caliber€gun€in€Murphyððs€lap,€thought€the€defendant€was€alsoÏarmed€with€a€gun,€and€began€to€suspect€he€was€in€danger€of€being€robbed.€€AccordingÏto€the€victim,€the€defendant€suggested€they€rent€a€hotel€room€in€which€to€party€and€askedÏthe€victim€if€he€had€any€identification.€€The€victim,€trying€to€ð ðtalk€[his]€way€out€of€it,ðð€toldÏthe€defendant€and€Murphy€he€would€go€with€them€after€he€retrieved€his€phone€from€insideÐ †6&-0 ÐShortððs€apartment.€€The€victim€testified€that€once€he€exited€the€car,€he€told€the€defendantÐ †6&-2 Ðand€Murphy€that€he€had€changed€his€mind€and€began€to€walk€away€from€them.€€MurphyÏthen€exited€the€car€and€called€to€the€victim.€€When€the€victim€turned€to€see€what€MurphyÏwanted,€Murphy€came€at€him€with€a€gun,€shooting€at€him€twice€as€he€tried€to€run€away.€ÏThe€second€shot€Murphy€fired€hit€the€victim€in€the€back.ÌÌà ¨ àà àThe€victim€ran€to€Shortððs€apartment,€and€Short€drove€him€to€the€hospital,Ïwhere€he€gave€a€description€of€the€defendant€and€Murphy€to€the€police.€€He€also€told€theÏpolice€that€he€knew€the€defendant.€€The€victim€testified€that€he€initially€lied€to€the€policeÏand€at€the€preliminary€hearing€about€what€happened,€ñ©ñœñ©ñsayingñ©ñ›ñ©ñ€that€he€was€the€victim€of€anÏattempted€carjacking.€€He€testified€that€he€lied€because€he€was€afraid€the€police€wouldÏnot€pursue€his€case€if€they€thought€he€œñ°ñwasñ°ññ±ñhad€beenñ±ñ›€involved€in€a€drug€deal.ÌÌà ¨ àà àMurphy€also€testified€at€trial.€€He€acknowledged€that€he€was€charged€withÏfirst„degree€murder,€especially€aggravated€robbery,€and€criminal€attempt€to€commit€first„¼degree€murder€and€was€facing€the€possibility€of€life€imprisonment€or€life€imprisonmentÏwithout€parole.€€He€stated€that€he€agreed€to€testify€in€this€case€and€two€other€trials€in€theÏhopes€of€gaining€favorable€consideration€on€the€amount€of€prison€time€he€would€beÏrequired€to€serve.€€Murphy€testified€that€he€was€at€the€defendantððs€apartment€on€theÏevening€of€February€27,€1996,€when€the€defendant€retrieved€a€.38€caliber€pistol€from€hisÏbedroom,€gave€it€to€Murphy,€and€asked€him€to€accompany€him€to€an€undisclosed€location.€ÏAccording€to€Murphy,€the€defendant€himself€was€armed€with€a€.45€caliber€automaticÏñ©ñœñ©ñpistol.ñ©ñ›ñ©ñ€€Murphy€testified€that€they€left€the€defendantððs€apartment€in€a€car.€€By€following€theÏdirections€the€defendant€gave€him,€Murphy€drove€to€the€parking€lot€outside€of€ShortððsÏapartment.€€Once€there,€the€defendant€went€inside€one€of€the€apartments,€returningÏshortly€thereafter€with€the€victim,€whom€Murphy€did€not€know.€€Murphy€testified€that€theyÏsat€in€the€car„„„the€defendant€in€the€back€seat€behind€him€and€the€victim€in€the€frontÐ L6ì,2 Ðpassenger€seat„„„and€discussed€getting€a€hotel€room.€€According€to€Murphy,€when€theÏvictim€then€left€the€car€and€began€to€walk€away,€the€defendant€told€Murphy€that€the€victimÏhad€ð ðsome€moneyðð€he€needed€and€ordered€Murphy€to€exit€the€car€and€ð ðget€him.ðð€€MurphyÏtestified€he€called€to€the€victim,€who€stopped€momentarily,€but€began€running€when€heÏrealized€that€Murphy€was€pointing€a€gun€at€him.€€According€to€Murphy,€the€defendant€thenÏordered€him€to€shoot€the€victim.€€Murphy€testified€he€fired€two€shots€at€the€victim,€butÏwhen€they€realized€the€victim€had€escaped,€they€fled.ÌÌà ¨ àà àMurphy€also€testified€that€a€man€known€as€ð ðYo„Yoðð€was€ð ða€regularðð€at€theÏdefendantððs€apartment€and€that€the€defendantððs€purpose€in€visiting€the€victim€that€eveningÏwas€to€rob€him.€€Moreover,€Murphy€testified€that€after€the€shooting,€the€defendantÏinstructed€him€that€if€he€were€arrested,€he€should€tell€the€police€that€he€shot€the€victimÏbecause€the€victim€had€attempted€to€steal€drugs€from€him.€€When€Murphy€was€arrested,Ïthis€was€the€story€he€initially€told€police.ÌÌà ¨ àà àDetective€Alfred€Gray€of€the€Metropolitan€Police€Department€testified€thatÏon€the€morning€of€February€28,€1996,€he€visited€the€defendantððs€apartment.€€AccordingÏto€Detective€Gray,€as€he€was€talking€with€the€defendantððs€roommate,€the€defendant,€whoÏwas€armed,€entered€the€apartment€with€three€individuals,€including€the€man€known€asÏð ðYo„Yo.ðð€€Detective€Gray€testified€that€they€ran€back€out€the€door,€and€while€doing€so,€theÏdefendant€reached€for€his€weapon,€which€was€a€.45€automatic€ñ©ñœñ©ññ¡ñgunñ¡ññ¢ñpistolñ¢ñ.ñ©ñ›ñ©ñÌÌà ¨ àà àA€subsequent€search€of€the€defendantððs€apartment€disclosed€an€empty€.38Ïcaliber€box€in€the€closet€of€the€defendantððs€bedroom;€the€.38€caliber€pistol€was€notÏrecovered€from€the€defendantððs€apartment.€€The€bullet€taken€from€the€victimððs€body€wasÏa€ð Ð00238,€Anderson€County€(Tenn.€Crim.€App.€filed€October€24,€1997,€at€Knoxville).€€ThatÏthe€defendant€did€not€pull€the€trigger€himself€is€not€fatal€to€the€Stateððs€case.€€The€proofÐ L6ì,2 Ðshowed€that€the€ñ©ñœñ©ñdefendantñ¦ñ,€who€was€himself€armed€with€a€.45€ñ¦ññ§ññ¦ñautomatic€ñ¦ññ§ññ¨ñcaliber€automatic€pistol,ñ¨ññ©ñ›ñ©ñÏsupplied€Murphy€with€a€.38€caliber€pistol€and€instructed€him€to€shoot€at€the€victim€becauseÏthe€victim€had€money€the€defendant€needed.€€By€aiding€Murphy€and€directing€him€toÏshoot€at€the€victim€while€acting€with€the€intent€to€benefit€in€the€proceeds€of€the€offense,Ïthe€defendant€became€criminally€responsible€for€Murphyððs€actions.€€T.C.A.€ðð€39„11„¼402(2).ÌÌà ¨ àà àThe€defendant€contends€that€the€only€evidence€of€the€defendantððs€intent€toÏparticipate€in€the€shooting€was€Murphyððs€testimony€that€the€defendant€instructed€him€toÏshoot€the€victim.€€The€defendant€argues€that€because€Murphyððs€testimony€isÏuncorroborated,€there€is€insufficient€evidence€of€intent.€€This€argument€must€fail,€however,Ïas€an€accompliceððs€testimony€need€not€be€corroborated€as€to€every€detail;€it€need€onlyÏbe€corroborated€as€to€some€fact€that€ð ðtend[s]€to€connect€the€defendant€with€theÏcommission€of€a€crime.ðð€€òòClapp€v.€Stateóó,€94€Tenn.€186,€30€S.W.€214,€217€(1895).€€Here,Ð ¼ \ Ðthe€victimððs€testimony€describing€the€shooting€is€almost€identical€to€Murphyððs€account€ofÏthe€shooting.€€Both€the€victim€and€Murphy€identified€the€defendant€as€an€armedÏparticipant€in€the€shooting,€even€though€the€defendant€himself€did€not€pull€the€trigger.€ÏMoreover,€Murphyððs€testimony€that€the€defendant€retrieved€from€his€bedroom€the€.38Ïcaliber€pistol€Murphy€used€in€the€shooting€was€corroborated€by€the€discovery€of€a€.38Ïcaliber€box€in€the€defendantððs€bedroom€and€the€testimony€that€the€victim€had€been€shotÏwith€a€bullet€from€either€a€.38€or€a€.357€caliber€pistol.€€Murphyððs€testimony€was€more€thanÏsufficiently€corroborated.ÌÌà ¨ àà àWe€must€note€that€in€the€defendantððs€brief,€he€specifically€declines€toÏaddress€the€issue€of€criminal€responsibility€for€Murphyððs€actions€because€the€ð ðjury€was€notÏinstructedðð€on€the€issue€of€criminal€responsibility€and€because€the€court€minutes€do€notÐ L6ì,2 Ðspecifically€reflect€that€the€jury€found€the€defendant€criminally€responsible€for€MurphyððsÏactions.€€Contrary€to€defense€counselððs€representation,€however,€the€transcript€plainlyÏreflects€that€the€jury€was€in€fact€instructed€on€the€issue€of€criminal€responsibility.€ÏMoreover,€one€would€expect€court€minutes€to€reflect€only€the€sum€of€the€juryððs€verdict,€asÏdid€the€one€in€this€case,€rather€than€each€specific€finding€made€by€the€jury€in€arriving€atÏits€verdict.€€Simply€because€the€court€minutes€do€not€reflect€that€the€jury€returned€a€guiltyÏverdict€because€it€found€the€defendant€was€criminally€responsible€for€Murphyððs€actionsÏdoes€not€mean€that€the€jury€did€not€in€fact€come€to€such€a€determination.€€Rather,Ïbecause€the€jury€heard€evidence€that€Murphy€pulled€the€trigger€and€was€instructed€thatÏthe€defendant€could€be€criminally€responsible€for€Murphyððs€actions,€the€juryððs€returnedÏverdict€of€guilt€is€itself€a€determination€that€the€defendant€was€criminally€responsible€forÏMurphyððs€actions.ÌÌà ¨ àà àIn€sum,€the€State€presented€sufficient€evidence€of€intent€and€sufficientÏcorroboration€of€Murphyððs€testimony.€€Accordingly,€the€defendantððs€challenge€to€hisÏconviction€must€fail.€€The€trial€courtððs€judgment€is€affirmed.ÌÌñ«ñÓÓœñ«ññ¬ñÌñ¬ñ›œñ«ñÓÓñ«ñ›à ¨ àà àà X àà ° àà  àà ` àà ¸ à_______________________________Ìà ¨ àà àà X àà ° àà  àà ` àà ¸ àJOHN€H.€PEAY,€JudgeÌÌœñ­ñÌÌñ­ñCONCUR:›ÌÌÌÌ______________________________ÌGARY€R.€WADE,€Presiding€JudgeÌÌÌÌ______________________________ÌJERRY€L.€SMITH,€Judge
