Therefore,theapplicationmustsufficientlyallegethatajudgmentisvoid,notmerelyvoidable.HabeascorpusreliefisavailableinTennesseeonlywhenthefaceofajudgmentorrecordoftheproceedingsindicatesthatthe convictingcourtwaswithoutjurisdictionorauthoritytosentenceadefendant,orthatadefendantssentenceofimprisonmentorotherrestrainthasexpired.Archerv. #  State,851S.W.2d157,164(Tenn.1993). Itisgenerallytrue...thata %" judgmentimposedbyatrialcourtindirectcontraventionofexpressstatutoryprovisionsregardingsentencingisillegal....Statev.Mahler,735S.W.2d ,)$"& 226,228(Tenn.1987).Intheinstantcase,thetrialcourtssentencingthepetitionertotheworkhouse,althoughimproper,didnotdirectlycontraveneexpressstatutoryprovisions.TheCodespecificallyanticipatesandlegitimizessuchsentences: 4 XAfterNovember1,1989,ifacourtsentencesorhassentencedadefendanttoalocaljailorworkhousewhensuchcourtwasnotauthorizedtodosobythischapter,itshallbedeemedthatsuchsentencewasasentencetothedepartment,andthecommissionerofcorrectionshallhavetheauthoritytotakesuchadefendantintothecustodyofthedepartment.4  X r8j17  XTenn.CodeAnn.4035314(a).
