Theappellantraisestwointerrelatedissues:ineffectiveassistanceofcounselandanunknowingandinvoluntaryguiltyplea.Specifically,theappellantcontendsthathiscounselsineffectivenesscausedhimtoenteranunknowingandinvoluntaryplea.Uponreviewingtherecord,weaffirmthetrialcourtsjudgment. Theappellantallegesthathistrialcounselwasineffectiveforfailingto:(1)establisharelationshipwiththeappellant;(2)adequatelydiscussthedetailsofthecasewiththeappellant;(3)attempttosuppressthestatesevidence;and(4)investigatethestatescaseortheappellantspossibledefensesandalibis. Inorderfortheappellanttobegrantedreliefongroundsofineffectiveassistanceofcounsel,hemustestablishthattheadvicegivenortheservicesrenderedwerenotwithinthecompetencedemandedofattorneysincriminalcasesandthat,butforhiscounselsdeficientperformance,theresultofhistrialwouldhavebeendifferent.Stricklandv.Washington,466U.S.668(1984).Thistwopartstandard,asitappliestoguiltypleas,ismetwhentheappellantestablishesthat,butforhiscounselserror,hewouldnothavepledguiltyandwouldhaveinsistedonatrial.Hillv.Lockhart,474U.S.52,59(1985). Atthepostconvictionhearing,theappellantstrialattorneytestifiedthathetookspecialinterestintheappellantscase. 7   ׀Hetestifiedthathefullyinformedtheappellantofthechargesagainsthim,hisrights,andoptions.Basedupontheoverwhelmingevidenceagainsttheappellant, 8   ׀hetestifiedthatinhisprofessionaljudgmentanyattemptatsuppressionofevidencewouldhavebeenfruitless.Also,hestatedthattheappellantneverinformedhimofanypotentialalibiwitnesses.Thetrialattorneynegotiatedapleaagreementwherebyseveralpendingjuvenilechargeswouldbedropped,andtheappellantcouldpleadtoonecountofaggravatedrobbery.Heinformedtheappellantthatitwasinhisbestinteresttoacceptthepleaagreement,andtheappellantdidso. Basedupontheoverwhelmingevidenceagainsttheappellant,itappearsthathistrialcounselperformedveryeffectivelyinnegotiatingthenineyearsentenceagreement.ThisCourtfinds,basedupontherecord,theappellanthasfailedtoestablishthathereceivedineffectiveassistance.Thisissueiswithoutmerit. Theappellantnextcontendsthatheenteredanunknowingandinvoluntaryguiltyplea.Theappellantfailedtoraisethisissueduringthepostconvictionhearingandhas,therefore,waivedthisissue.Tenn.R.App.P.36(a).Notwithstandingwaiver,wewilladdresshiscontention.ThetranscriptoftheguiltypleaproceedingsindicatesthatthetrialjudgefollowedthestandardsoutlinedinStatev.Mackey,553S.W.2d337(Tenn.1977).Theappellantacknowledgedthatheunderstoodthepleaandsentenceandacceptedbothknowinglyandintelligently.Thisissueis,therefore,withoutmerit.
