Afteracarefulreviewoftherecord,wemodifythejudgmentofthetrialcourt.@ FACTUALBACKGROUND  OnNovember27,1994,theappellantenteredpleasofguiltytoaggravatedburglaryandtheftofpropertyover$1,000.00.TrialcounselstipulatedthattheappellantisarangeIIIpersistentoffender.Thetrialcourt,accordingly,imposedconcurrentsentencesofelevenyearsfortheburglaryconvictionandeightyearsforthetheftconviction.ThetrialcourtwasthenadvisedthattheappellantwascurrentlyservingoutstandingsentencesfromKnoxCounty.TheappellanttestifiedthatshewasconvictedinKnoxCountyoffraudulentuseofcreditcardsandobtainingacontrolledsubstancebyfraud.Accordingtotheappellant,thecourtinthatcaseimposedtwoconsecutivesentencesoftwelveyearsandfouryears. &   ׀TheappellantstatedthatshewasplacedoncommunityreleasestatusinKnoxCounty,whichwasrevokedfollowingherarrestfortheinstantoffensesinBlountCounty.Atthetimeofthesentencinghearing,theappellantwasservingherKnoxCountysentenceintheJohnsonCityjail,duetoovercrowdedconditionsintheWomen'sStatePrison.Theappellantalsotestifiedthatshewasashamedandverysorryforthecrimeswhichshehascommitted.Sheindicatedthatsheprovidedinformationtoassisttheauthoritiesinrecoveringthestolenproperty. '   ׀Sherelatedthatshecommittedtheinstantoffensesinordertoobtainmoneyforherdrughabit.Theappellantisthirtysevenyearsofageandbeganusingdrugsonaregularbasisatagesixteen.Atthetimeofherarrest,shewas"doinganywherefromtentofifteendilaudidsaday."Sheadmittedthatshewasforgingprescriptions,stealing,anddoinganythingelseshecoulddoinordertoobtainmoneytosatisfyherdrugaddition. Attheconclusionofthesentencinghearing,thetrialcourtorderedthattheconcurrentsentencesofelevenyearsfortheinstantoffensesbeservedconsecutivelywiththeoutstandingsentencesfromKnoxCountyofsixteenyears.Theappellant,thus,receivedaneffectivesentenceoftwentysevenyearsasarangeIIIpersistentoffender.Thetrialcourtfoundthatconsecutivesentencingwasappropriatebecausetheappellantcommittedtheinstantoffenseswhileshewasonprobation.Inannouncingitsdecision,thetrialcourtrecitedthefollowingfinding:8 Idon'tthinkthatwhenapersonisonaformofrelease,whetherit'sprobationorparoleorwhatever,andcommitsanotheroffense,thatitshouldn'tbeaddedtowhattheyhave.Ifshehadservedmoretimeonthis,thenyoucouldrunitconcurrentanditwouldaddsomemoretimetotheendofhercurrentsentence.Butshe'snotevenservedayearonitanditprobably,astheattorneygeneralsaid,wouldamounttonexttonothingifdonethatway.@ LAWANDANALYSIS  TheStatearguesthatconsecutivesentenceswereauthorizedpursuanttoTenn.CodeAnn.4035115(b)(6)(1990).Thisstatuteprovides:8 (b)Thecourtmayordersentencestorunconsecutivelyifthecourtfindsbyapreponderanceoftheevidencethat:8 (6)Thedefendantissentencedforanoffensecommittedwhileonprobation....Contrarytotheappellant'sassertion,theprovisionsofsection4035115areapplicabletothefactsofthiscase.Whileconsecutivesentencesshouldnotberoutinelyimposed,SentencingCommissionComments,Tenn.CodeAnn.4035115,Grayv.State,538S.W.2d391,393(Tenn.1976),whenoneormorestatutorycriteriaarepresent,theimpositionofconsecutivesentencesiswithinthediscretionofthetrialcourt.Statev.Taylor,739S.W.2d227,228(Tenn.1987);SentencingCommissionComments,Tenn.CodeAnn.4035115.Althoughthetrialcourtcorrectlyappliedsection4035115(b)(6)inorderingconsecutivesentences,ourreviewoftheappellantssentencesisnotatanend.Indeterminingwhetherthetrialcourtprovidentlyexerciseditsdiscretion, theoverridingconcernisthefairnessoftheresultingsentenceunderallthecircumstances.Statev.HaroldHaywardMcGuire,No.01C019309CC00300(Tenn.Crim.App.atNashville,May12,1994)(citingGray,538S.W.2dat391).UnderoursupremecourtsrecentdecisioninStatev.Wilkerson,905S.W.2d933,939(Tenn.1995),wemustdeterminewhethertheconsecutivesentences(1)arereasonablyrelatedtotheseverityoftheoffensescommitted;(2)servetoprotectthepublicfromfurthercriminalconductbytheappellant;and(3)arecongruentwithgeneralprinciplesofsentencing. Theappellantcontendsthatherlifeofcrimehasbeenlargelymotivatedbyherneedformoneytosupportherdrugaddiction.Althoughtherecordoftheappellant'spriorcriminalhistorybeforeusisundocumented,itappearstosupportherallegation.Heroffenses,byherownadmission,includefraudulentuseofcreditcards,attemptingtopassforgedprescriptions,andforgeryandtheft.Intheinstantcase,theappellantburglarizedherfriend'shouseandstolejewelry.Thejewelrywassoldtoapawnshopfor$200.00$300.00. Thesentenceimposedshouldbetheleastseveremeasurenecessarytoachievethepurposesforwhichthesentenceisimposed.Tenn.CodeAnn.4035103(4)(1990).Therefore,theproofmustestablishthattheappellantssentenceisreasonablyrelatedtotheseverityoftheoffenseandisnecessarytoprotectthepublicfromfurthercriminalactsbytheoffender.Wilkerson,905S.W.2dat938.Thesecriteriaaresupportedbytherecord.However,weconcludethattheappellantsaggregatesentenceoftwentysevenyears,fortheinstantoffensesandtheKnoxCountyconvictions,isexcessiveinlightofthegoalsoftheSentencingAct.Conversely,toorderthatthesentencesbeservedconcurrentlywould,ineffect,grantanundeservedbenefitundertheprinciplesofconsecutivesentencing.Thus,asentenceappropriatetothefactsofthiscaseandconsistentwiththeprinciplesandpurposesoftheSentencingActmustbeimposed.See,e.g.,Statev.Marshall,888S.W.2d786,788(Tenn.Crim.App.),perm.toappealdenied,(Tenn.1994).Accordingly,weconcludethattheappellantselevenyearsentencefortheburglaryconvictionistobeservedconsecutivelywithhereightyearsentenceforthetheftconviction.Thisresultsinaneffectivesentenceofnineteenyears.ThissentenceistorunconcurrentlywiththeappellantsoutstandingsixteenyearsentencesfromKnoxCounty.@ CONCLUSION  Theappellantssentencesaremodifiedtoreflectthatherconcurrentsentencesofelevenyearsfortheaggravatedburglaryandeightyearsfortheftareorderedtobeservedconsecutively.ThiseffectivesentenceofnineteenyearsisorderedtorunconcurrentlywiththeoutstandingsentencesfromKnoxCounty.Thiscaseisremandedforentryofjudgmentsofconvictionconsistentwiththisopinion.     ____________________________________     DavidG.Hayes,JudgeCONCUR:_______________________________JohnH.Peay,Judge_______________________________JosephM.Tipton,Judge
