'    Afterreviewingtherecord,weaffirmthejudgmentofthetrialcourt.@ I.FACTUALBACKGROUND  OnFebruary11,1994,atapproximately10:00p.m.,OfficerKevinTeagueandReserveOfficerNickGrandy,Franklinpoliceofficers,observedtheappellant'svehiclestoppedatatrafficlight.Apassengerofthevehiclewasstandingbesidethevehicleurinating.OfficerTeaguepulledupalongsidethevehicleandinstructedtheappellanttosteerhisvehicletothesideoftheroadassoonasthelightturnedgreen,sothattheofficercouldspeaktothepassenger.OfficerTeaguenoticedthattheappellanthada"1000yardstare,"ahazedlook,andappearedconfusedordistant. Theappellantproceededthroughtheintersection,butdidnotpullover.OfficerTeagueactivatedhisbluelights.Hethenactivatedhissirenintermittently.Nevertheless,theappellanttraveledapproximatelythreeblocks,madearightturn,andproceededanadditional50to100feetbeforestopping.Theroadwayofferedseveralsafeplacesfortheappellanttostopduringthepolicepursuit.Aftertheappellantbroughthisvehicletoastop,OfficerTeagueapproachedthevehicleonthedriver'ssideanddetectedanodorofalcoholemanatingfromtheappellant.OfficerTeagueaskedtheappellanttoproducehisdriver'slicenseandregistration.Theappellantstatedthathedidnothavehislicensewithhim.TheappellantfurtherstatedthathehadbeenattheVFWclubwherehehaddrunkacoupleofbeers. Astheappellantexitedthevehicle,OfficerTeaguenotedthattheappellantwasunsteadyonhisfeet,andhiseyeswerebloodshotandglassy.Moreover,theappellant'sspeechwasslurred.Theotherrespondingofficersmadesimilarobservations. OfficerTeaguethenadministeredaseriesoffieldsobrietytests.Thefirsttestrequiredthattheappellantstandononelegforthirtyseconds.TheappellanttoldOfficerTeaguethathedidnotsufferanydisabilitiesthatwouldpreventhimfromsuccessfullycompletingthistest.Yet,theappellantcouldnotmaintainhisbalanceformorethantwelveseconds. OfficerTeaguealsoaskedthattheappellantperformthe"walkandturn,heeltotoetest."Inperformingthistest,theappellantsidesteppedandwasunabletoplacehisheelinfrontofhistoe.Furthermore,althoughtheappellantwalkedninestepsforwardasinstructed,hefailedtomovesevenstepsbackwardasinstructed. Theappellantwasalsounabletotouchthetipofhisnosewitheitherforefinger,touchingthesideofhisnosewiththefingerofonehandandnearhiseyewiththefingeroftheotherhand.Finally,OfficerTeagueaskedtheappellanttorecitethealphabetfrom"a"to"z."Aftertheletter"p,"theappellantwasinaudible. OfficerTeagueconcludedthattheappellanthadperformedthefourfieldsobrietytestsunsatisfactorily.OfficerChrisGentry,whohadalsoobservedtheappellant'sperformance,concurredwithOfficerTeague'sassessment.Bothofficerstestifiedthattheappellant'sperformancedemonstratedthathismotorskills,coordination,balance,mentalprocesses,reactiontime,andabilitytofollowdirectionswereimpaired.@ II.LEGALANALYSIS  Whenanappellantchallengesthesufficiencyoftheevidence,thestandardofreviewbyanappellatecourtiswhether,consideringtheevidenceinalightmostfavorabletotheprosecution,anyrationaltrieroffactcouldhavefoundtheessentialelementsofthecrimebeyondareasonabledoubt.SeeJacksonv.Virginia,443U.S.307,319,99S.Ct.2781,2789(1979);Statev.Cazes,875S.W.2d253,259(Tenn.1994),cert.denied,򀀀U.S.򀀀,115S.Ct.743(1995);Statev.Duncan,698S.W.2d63,67(Tenn.1985),cert.denied,475U.S.1031,106S.Ct.1240(1986);Tenn.R.App.P.13(e).TheStateisentitledtothestrongestlegitimateviewoftheevidenceandallreasonableinferencesthatmaybedrawntherefrom.Statev.Cabbage,571S.W.2d832,836(Tenn.1978).Indeterminingthesufficiencyoftheevidence,thiscourtdoesnotreweightheevidence,id.at835,nordowesubstituteourinferencesforthosedrawnbythetrieroffactfromtheevidence.Liakasv.State,286S.W.2d856,859(Tenn.),cert.denied,352U.S.845,77S.Ct.39(1956). Theappellantarguesthattheevidencedoesnotsupportthejurysverdictofguilt.Afteracarefulconsiderationofthetrialrecord,weconcludethattheevidencewassufficientforarationaljurytofindeachoftheessentialelementssetforthinTenn.CodeAnn.5510401:Theappellant(1)wasinphysicalcontrolofanautomobile,(2)onapublicroadwithintheStateofTennessee,and(3)wasundertheinfluenceofanintoxicant. Elementsoneandtwoareadmittedbytheappellantandarenotatissueonappeal.Withrespecttothethirdelement,theappellant'sprincipalargumentisthathedemonstratedhisabilitytodrivebysuccessfullymaneuveringhisvehiclewithpoliceofficersinpursuit.Theappellantsreasoningisflawed.AspointedoutbytheState, [a]llthatisrequiredisthat[an]intoxicant...make[]itlesssafeforhimtooperateamotorvehiclethanitwouldbeifhewerenotaffectedbyanintoxicant.Statev.Curtis,No.01C019203CC00075(Tenn.Crim.App.atNashville,October22,1992).SeealsoStatev.Tharnish,No.17(Tenn.Crim.App.atJackson,December28,1988),perm.toappealdenied,(Tenn.1989)( anyonewhohaspartakenofintoxicatingliquorsoastolessenormodifyinanydegreehispowertocontrolanautomobileortoguideitisundertheinfluenceofanintoxicant).First,theappellantadmittedtoOfficerTeaguethathehadconsumedalcoholearlierthatevening.Second,thejurycouldhaveinferredfromtheappellantsconducteitheranimpairmentoftheappellant'sjudgmentinchoosingnottostopforthepoliceoranimpairmentofhisfaculties,includinghismotorskills,infailingtorecognizepolicelightsorhearthesirenandrespondpromptly.Third,arationaljurycouldhaveconcludedthattheappellant'sappearanceatthetimeofthestopandhisfailuretoadequatelyperformeachofthefieldsobrietytestsdemonstratedthattheappellantwasundertheinfluenceofanintoxicant.
