Afterareviewoftherecord,weaffirmthejudgmentofthetrialcourt. Uponafindingbyapreponderanceoftheevidencethatadefendanthasviolatedtheconditionsofprobation,atrialcourtmayrevokeprobationandordertheimpositionoftheoriginalsentence.Tenn.CodeAnn.4035310,311(d)(1990&Supp.1995).Thedecisiontorevokeprobationrestsinthesounddiscretionofthetrialcourt.Statev.Mitchell,810S.W.2d733,735(Tenn.Crim.App.1991).Thetrialcourtmustadducesufficientevidenceattheprobationrevocationhearingtomakeanintelligentdecision.Id.Furthermore,thetrialcourtmustexerciseconscientiousjudgmentinmakingitsdecisionratherthanactingarbitrarily.Statev.Leach,914S.W.2d104,106(Tenn.Crim.App.1995).Inorderforareviewingcourttofindthatatrialcourthasabuseditsdiscretion,therecordmustbedevoidofsubstantialevidencewhichwouldsupporttheconclusionthataviolationofprobationoccurred.Statev.Harkins,811S.W.2d79,82(Tenn.1991). AtAppellantsprobationrevocationhearingonMarch14,1995,bothAppellantandhisprobationofficertestified.TheproofshowedthatthiswasAppellantssecondprobationrevocationhearingforhisrobberyconviction.AttheconclusionofAppellantsfirstprobationrevocationhearingonJune14,1994,Appellantwassentencedtosixtydaysincarcerationforfailingtoregularlyreporttohisprobationofficer,fortestingpositiveforcocaineuse,forasubsequentassaultconviction,andforcurfewviolations.ThetrialcourtdelayedAppellantsincarcerationuntilSeptember13,providinghimwithanotheropportunitytodemonstratethathecouldabidebytheconditionsofhisprobation.However,onJune22,justeightdaysfollowingthehearing,Appellantagaintestedpositiveforcocaineuse.Furthermore,fromJulyuntilOctober,Appellantonlyreportedtwiceforhisweeklymeetingswithhisprobationofficer.HealsofailedtoreportanOctober6arrestforburglaryandthefttohisprobationofficer. Appellanttestifiedthathisfailuretoregularlyreporttohisprobationofficerwasduetohisclinicallydiagnosedmentalbreakdownandtoaheavydosageofmedicationthatpreventedhimfrom mov[ing]aroundmuch.Hetheorizedthattheprescribedmedicationcouldhavebeenthecauseforhispositivedrugscreenandmaintainedhisinnocencewithregardtohisburglaryandtheftarrest.Heconcededthathemadenoefforttocontacthisprobationofficerandexplainhissituation. Basedontheforegoingevidence,thetrialcourtfoundthatAppellanthadviolatedhisprobationafterbeinggivennumerouschancestoshowhecouldsuccessfullycompleteaprobationarysentence.Appellantsprobationwasrevokedandthetrialcourtorderedtheimpositionofhisoriginalthreeyearsentenceofconfinement.TherecordisrepletewithuncontestedevidenceofAppellantsnumerousandflagrantviolationsoftheconditionsofhisprobationunderthesecircumstancesthetrialjudgedidnotabusehisdiscretioninrevokingAppellantsprobation. Appellantalsocontendsthatthetrialcourtabuseditsdiscretioninorderingtheimpositionofhisoriginalthreeyearsentenceofconfinement.Appellantarguesthat,inlightofthesentencingprinciplesoftheTennesseeCriminalSentencingReformActof1989,thetrialcourtshouldhaveorderedincarcerationforonlyaportionofthesentenceandprobationforthebalanceofthesentence.However,atthispointintime,Appellantsrelianceonthesestatutorysentencingprinciplesismisplaced.Whiletheconsiderationofstatutorysentencingprinciplesismandatoryindeterminingacriminaldefendantsoriginalsentence,referencetotheseprinciplesisnotnecessaryindeterminingtheappropriatesanctionfollowingrevocationofprobation.SeeStatev.Taylor,No.02C019504CC00108,1996WL218332,at*2(Tenn.Crim.App.May1,1996).Asstatedpreviously,theappropriatestandardofreviewhereisabuseofdiscretion.TherecordrevealsthatthetrialcourtwaswithinitsdiscretioninorderingtheimpositionofAppellantsoriginalthreeyearsentenceofconfinement.
