OnMonday,October7,1997,defendantcametothevictimsresidenceandattemptedtogain x  accessthroughthebackdoor.Thedoorwaslocked;thevictimphoned911;andsheaimedher12 ^  gaugeshotgunatdefendant.Defendantthreatenedherlifeandretreated.Thepolicecameand D  assistedthevictiminsecuringherresidence,buttheydidnotlocatedefendantintheneighborhood. *z    Laterthatnightthevictimwalkedoutsideinanattempttolocateherdog,anddefendant F attackedher.Hedraggedherbackintoherhouseandhitherwiththebuttoftheshotgun.Then, , defendantshotthevictimonceinthestomach.    KenMelton,thevictimsfriend,arrivedimmediatelythereafter,anddefendanthithiminthe  backoftheheadwiththebuttoftheshotgun.Meltonlefttheresidenceandphoned911fromhis t cellulartelephone.Thepoliceandemergencypersonnelarrivedatthevictimshouse,butdefendant Z hadfled.Defendantturnedhimselfintopolicetwodayslater. @   DefendantwasconvictedbythejuryoftheattemptedseconddegreemurderofCynthia  \ BelewandaggravatedassaultonKenMelton.
