ƒ0 ××  ×€€TheÏremaining€sentences€were€ordered€to€run€concurrently.€€€Ìà àWhen€a€defendant€challenges€the€length,€range,€or€manner€of€service€of€aÏsentence,€we€must€conduct€a€de€novo€review€of€the€record.€€Tenn.€Code€Ann.€ðð40„35„401(d)€(1990).€€The€sentence€imposed€by€the€trial€court€is€accompanied€by€aÏpresumption€of€correctness€and€the€appealing€party€carries€the€burden€of€showingÏthat€the€sentence€is€improper.€€Tenn.€Code€Ann.€ðð40„35„401€(SentencingÏCommission€Comments).€€The€presumption,€however,€is€conditioned€upon€anÏaffirmative€showing€in€the€record€that€the€trial€court€considered€the€sentencingÏprinciples€and€all€relevant€facts€and€circumstances.€€òòState€v.€Ashbyóó,€823€S.W.2d€166,Ï169€(Tenn.€1991).€€Because€the€trial€court€in€this€case€carefully€considered€theÏprinciples€of€sentencing,€we€accord€its€judgment€the€presumption€of€correctness.€€Ìà àAppellant€first€alleges€that€the€trial€court€erred€in€ordering€the€maximumÏsentence€for€each€offense.€€He€contests€both€the€application€of€enhancement€factorsÏand€the€trial€courtððs€failure€to€consider€any€mitigating€factors.€€We€find€no€error€in€theÏlength€of€appellantððs€sentences.€€Ìà àIn€enhancing€the€sentences€for€appellantððs€felony€convictions,€the€trial€courtÏapplied€four€enhancement€factors:€(1)€appellantððs€previous€history€of€criminalÏconvictions;€(8)€appellantððs€previous€history€of€unwillingness€to€comply€with€the€termsÏof€a€sentence€involving€release€into€the€community;€(13)€appellant€was€on€probationÏfor€a€prior€felony€at€the€time€the€instant€offenses€were€committed;€and€(20)€theÏappellant€was€adjudicated€to€have€committed€a€delinquent€act€as€a€juvenile€thatÏwould€constitute€a€felony€if€committed€by€an€adult.× ƒ1 ××  ×€€Tenn.€Code€Ann.€ðð40„35„114Ï(Supp.€1995).€€Finding€no€mitigating€factors,€the€trial€court€sentenced€appellant€to€theÏmaximum€sentence€in€the€range€for€each€offense.Ìà àAlthough€appellant€attacks€the€trial€courtððs€application€of€the€enhancementÏfactors,€he€fails€to€specifically€explain€why€they€were€applied€erroneously.€€ContraryÏto€his€claims,€our€review€reveals€that€the€œenhancers›€were€properly€applied.€€TheÏrecord€reflects€that€appellantððs€adult€criminal€record€contains€ten€(10)€prior€felonyÍconvictions€and€two€(2)€misdemeanor€convictions.× ƒ2 ××  ×€€His€juvenile€record€is€repleteÏwith€violations€beginning€at€age€twelve€(12).€€While€many€of€those€violations€were€forÏtruancy€and€unruliness,€appellant€began€committing€thefts€at€the€age€of€fifteen€(15).€ÏAs€a€juvenile,€he€was€adjudicated€delinquent€for€the€theft€of€an€œautomobile.€€SuchÏadjudication€›€would€have€constituted€a€felony€if€committed€by€an€adult.€€Based€uponÏappellantððs€record,€the€trial€court€correctly€applied€all€four€enhancement€factors.€€€Ìà àAppellantððs€arguments€primarily€relate€to€the€trial€courtððs€failure€to€considerÏmitigating€factors.€€He€argues€that€the€trial€court€should€have€considered€hisÏyouthfulness€at€the€time€he€committed€the€earlier€offenses€and€that€his€conductÏneither€caused€nor€threatened€serious€bodily€injury.€€Tenn.€Code€Ann.€ðð40„35„113(1),€(6)€(1990).€€Appellant€was€twenty„one€(21)€years€of€age€at€the€time€ofÏsentencing.€€In€light€of€the€sheer€number€of€offenses€that€appellant€amassed€at€a€veryÏyoung€age,€and€in€such€a€short€period€of€time,€we€conclude€that€appellantððs€age€is€ofÏlittle€mitigating€value.€€We€acknowledge€that€appellantððs€conduct€did€not€threaten€orÏcause€serious€bodily€injury.€€However,€any€mitigation€to€which€appellant€was€entitledÍin€that€regard€was€severely€œundercut›€by€the€substantial€weight€the€trial€courtÏaccorded€the€enhancement€factors.ÌÌÌà àAppellant€also€argues€that€the€trial€court€should€have€considered€that€heÏassisted€authorities€in€locating€or€recovering€property,€that€he€was€remorseful,€that€heÏconfessed,€and€that€he€has€good€potential€for€rehabilitation.€€òòSeeóó€Tenn.€Code€Ann.Ïðð40„35„113(10),€(13)€(1990).€€However,€none€of€those€mitigating€factors€areÏsupported€by€the€factual€record€before€us.€€There€was€no€proof€that€appellantÏassisted€authorities€or€that€he€made€confessions€to€law€enforcement.€€In€reviewingÏappellantððs€testimony€at€sentencing,€we€detect€little,€if€any,€remorse.€€Ìà àMoreover,€we€believe€appellantððs€potential€for€rehabilitation€was€poor.€€WhenÏasked€if€he€would€commit€any€other€offenses€when€released,€he€said€that€he€hopedÏhe€would€not,€but€he€could€not€be€sure.€€He€further€stated€that€every€time€he€isÍreleased,€he€promises€not€to€offend€again,€but€always€does.€€The€trial€court€did€not€errÏin€declining€to€mitigate€appellantððs€sentences.Ìà àAppellant€also€contests€the€trial€courtððs€order€that€certain€sentences€be€servedÏconsecutively€to€one€another.œ× ƒ3 ××  ×›€€He€argues€that€his€classification€as€a€ð ðprofessionalÏcriminalðð€and€the€designation€of€his€criminal€record€as€extensive€were€in€error.€€òòSeeóóÏTenn.€Code€Ann.€ðð40„35„115(1),€(2)€(1990).€€We€disagree.Ìà àIn€order€to€direct€sentences€to€be€served€consecutively€because€the€defendantÏis€a€professional€criminal,€it€must€be€shown€that€he€has€knowingly€devoted€himself€toÏcriminal€acts€as€a€major€source€of€livelihood.€€Tenn.€Code€Ann.€ðð40„35„115(1)Ï(1990).€€Proof€at€the€sentencing€hearing€demonstrated€that€appellant€had€a€poorÏemployment€record,€having€been€unable€to€hold€any€position€for€more€than€a€fewÏmonths.€€He€stated€at€the€sentencing€hearing€that€he€quit€or€abandoned€the€jobs€heÏhad€in€the€past.€€He€also€said€that€the€jobs€he€could€perform€did€not€pay€well€and€thatÏstealing€was€the€fastest€way€to€make€money.€€Ìà àIn€the€presentence€report,€appellant€declined€to€list€any€previous€employment,Ïcommenting€instead,€ð ðHell,€if€I€worked,€I€wouldnððt€be€out€stealing€from€people.ðð€€HeÏalso€told€the€presentence€officer€that€he€was€ð ðtoo€lazy€to€work.ðð€€During€his€testimonyÏat€the€sentencing€hearing,€appellant€indicated€that€he€was€not€working€when€some€ofÏthe€offenses€were€committed€and€that€they€were€his€primary€source€of€income.€ÏConsidering€that€evidence,€the€trial€court€was€justified€in€finding€that€appellantððsÏcriminal€acts€were€a€major€source€of€his€livelihood.€Ìà àAlthough€only€one€statutory€factor€is€necessary€to€order€consecutiveÏsentencing,€the€trial€court€also€found€that€appellant€is€an€offender€whose€record€ofÏcriminal€activity€is€extensive.€€Tenn.€Code€Ann.€ðð40„35„115(2)€(1990).€€In€only€threeÏ(3)€years€as€an€adult,€appellant€has€amassed€a€lengthy€criminal€record,€nowÏconsisting€of€twenty„nine€(29)€offenses,€only€six€(6)€of€which€are€misdemeanors.€€HisÏcriminal€record€speaks€for€itself.Ìà
