H,',  4-(-   OnJune30,2000,asentencinghearingwasconductedbythetrialcourtwhichdeveloped  thefollowingfacts.TheAppellantisthirtyeightyearsoldandreceivedhisGEDwhile  incarceratedintheKentuckyCorrectionsSystem.TheAppellantspriorcriminalhistory  involvessixteenconvictions,includingfourmisdemeanordrugoffensesforpossessionof t cocaineandmarijuana,andtwofelonydrugoffensesforpossessionofcocainewithintenttosell. ` ThetwofelonyoffensesoccurredinKentuckyin1990,wheretheAppellantreceivedconsecutive L  fiveyearsentences.TheAppellantwasparoledtoTennesseein1991.In1993,hisparolewas 8  revoked.Afterservingadditionaltime,hewasagainparoledtoTennesseeinDecember1993. $ t Atthetimeofthecurrentoffense,theAppellantwasonparoleforthe1990Kentuckyfelony  ` drugconvictions.ThetrialcourtdeniedtheAppellantanalternativesentenceandimposedtotal  L  confinementforthefollowingreasons:(1)theAppellantslonghistoryofcriminalconduct,(2)  8  confinementwasnecessarytoavoiddepreciatingtheseriousnessoftheoffense,(3)confinement $  wasparticularlysuitedfortheAppellanttoprovideaneffectivedeterrent,and(4)theAppellants   failureatrehabilitationbylessrestrictivesentences.
