H,',  4-(-    ` Theappellantwasacceptedintoandsuccessfullycompletedathirtydayrehabilitation  programatTheLighthouse.OnApril4,1991,thetrialcourtgavetheappellantpermissiontoenter  theHopeHalfwayHouseinOakRidge.Subsequently,onAugust19,1992,thetrialcourt,by  agreement,extendedtheappellantsprobationforaperiodofelevenmonths.Atthattime,the t appellantwasmaintainingsteadyemployment,hadaplacetolive,andwasstayingsober. `    ` InNovember1992,theappellantstoppedmeetingwithhisprobationofficer.A 8  probationviolationreportwasfiledonMarch5,1993,andaprobationrevocationwarrantwasissued $ t fifteendayslater.Forreasonsunexplainedintherecord,theappellantwasnotarresteduntilafter  ` asubsequentviolationreportwasfiledonDecember21,2000,followingtheappellantsarrestfor  L  againattemptingtoobtainacontrolledsubstancebyfraud.Aprobationrevocationhearingwasthen  8  heldonJanuary29,2001. $     ` Attheprobationrevocationhearing,theappellantstipulatedthathehadnotreported   tohisprobationofficersinceNovember1992,aperiodofapproximatelyeightyears.Theappellant   alsostipulatedthathewasinarrearsinpaymentofcourtcosts.Theappellantadmittedthathehad   changedaddressesandjobswithoutinforminghisprobationofficerandhadrecentlybeenarrested p forattemptingtoobtaincontrolledsubstancesbyfraudandfordrivingundertheinfluence(_DUI_). \ Theappellantexplainedthatheremainedsoberforalmostsevenyearsaftercompletingthe H rehabilitationprogram,but,in1998afterexperiencingtroublewithkidneystones,heonceagain 4 beganabusingpainmedicationandmethadone.  p _   ` Theappellantconcededthattherewasnovalidreasonforhisfailuretoreporttohis H probationofficer,butmaintainedthatheiscurrentlyemployed,hasaplacetolive,andhepromised 4 topay$992fromafederalincometaxrefundtowardhiscourtcosts.Heacknowledgedthathe   wouldalwayshaveadrugproblemandaskedthecourttosentencehimtocommunitycorrections   forfurtherdrugtreatment.Thetrialcourtstated:  8  8`   [Duringtheperiodyoudidnotreporttoyourprobationofficer,]Im  gladyoudidntgetinvolvedinanymoreseriouscriminalactivity  thanyoudid,butapersonthatsontheruncantdoenoughadmirable l thingstomakeupforthefactthattheyreontherun.Otherwise,an X  orderoflettingapersonoutofjailtobeonprobationprovidedthat D! theyreport,etcetera,everybodywouldjustquitreporting.Andtonot 0"  revokeyoufromprobationandmakeyouserveyoursentencewould, #l! infact,saythataprobationorderisnotanorder,itsjustaprobation $X" suggestion.Whichcantbe.$D #` x` x 8  8`   So,thesentenceisrevoked.Youwillservethebalanceofthe &"% sentenceasarangeoneoffender.'#&` x` x Onappeal,theappellantarguesthatthetrialcourterredinfailingtoplacehimincommunity (#' correctionsafterrevokinghisprobation. )$( @$ II.Analysis  h+&*    ` Atrialcourtisauthorizedtoorderanappellanttoservethebalanceofhisoriginal  sentenceinconfinementuponfinding,byapreponderanceoftheevidence,thattheappellanthas  violatedthetermsofhisprobation.SeeTenn.CodeAnn.4035310and311(d)(1997);State  v._Harkins_,811S.W.2d79,82(Tenn.1991).Therevocationofprobationrestsinthesound t discretionofthetrialcourtandwillnotbeoverturnedabsentanabuseofthatdiscretion.Statev. ` Leach,914S.W.2d104,106(Tenn._Crim_.App.1995).
