àThe€defendant,€Ronnie€Lauderdale,€was€convicted€of€the€unlawfulÏpossession€of€marijuana,€in€excess€of€œ14.175›€grams,€with€the€intent€to€deliver.€€TheÏtrial€court€imposed€a€Range€II,€workhouse€sentence€of€three€years€and€assessed€aÏfine€of€$2,000.00.ÌÌà àà àIn€this€appeal€of€right,€the€single€issue€is€whether€the€evidence€at€trialÏwas€sufficient€to€support€the€verdict.€€We€affirm€the€judgment€of€the€trial€court.€€ÌÌà àà àAt€about€10:00€A.M.€on€April€27,€1996,€Detective€Terry€Bishop€of€theÏNarcotics€Division€of€the€Shelby€County€Sheriff's€Department€received€a€telephoneÏreport€from€an€anonymous€female€caller€who€claimed€to€have€seen€a€large€amountÏof€narcotics€in€the€possession€of€a€black€male€driving€a€white€Chevrolet€pickupÏtruck€with€Texas€tags.€€The€caller€described€the€individual€as€in€his€mid„30's,Ïapproximately€six€feet€tall,€and€having€a€muscular€build.€€The€caller€informed€theÏdetective€that€the€drugs€were€in€the€truck€at€the€Hampton€Inn€at€Perkins€andÏAmerican€Way.Ìà àà àÌà àà àDetective€Bishop€found€the€vehicle€and€learned€that€the€registrationÏwas€in€the€name€of€the€defendant.€€A€dog€trained€to€detect€illegal€narcotics€wasÍtransported€to€the€scene€and€indicated€a€confirmation€of€the€presence€of€drugsÏinside€the€truck.€€Shortly€after€Detective€Bishop€inquired€about€the€defendant€at€theÏregistration€desk,€he€saw€a€man€meeting€the€description€he€had€been€providedÏwalking€across€the€parking€lot€toward€the€motel.ÌÌà àà àWhen€questioned,€the€defendant€identified€himself,€acknowledgedÏownership€of€the€Chevrolet€truck€and,€after€being€advised€of€œthe›€anonymous€tip,Ïconsented€to€a€search.€€The€officers,€who€described€the€defendant€as€"veryÏcooperative,"€found€three€pounds€of€marijuana€and€a€black€bag€containingÏ$5,600.00€in€cash€in€the€locked€cab€of€the€vehicle.€€Three€bags€containingÏmarijuana€residue€and€seeds€were€found€in€the€bed€of€the€truck.× àThe€defendant,€who€was€placed€under€arrest,€denied€any€knowledgeÏof€the€marijuana.€€He€claimed€that€he€had€loaned€the€truck€to€someone€the€nightÏbefore,€but€did€not€know€his€name.€€Later,€the€toxicology€laboratory€at€the€UniversityÏof€Tennessee€was€able€to€confirm€that€the€seized€substance€was€marijuana.€€ÌÌà àUnder€cross„examination€at€the€ensuing€trial,€Detective€BishopÏadmitted€asking€the€defendant,€who€was€on€parole€for€a€federal€narcoticsÏconviction,€to€become€an€informant.€€The€defendant€declined,€protesting€hisÏinnocence€on€this€charge.€€ÌÌà
