Itisawellestablishedprincipleoflawthattheremedyofhabeascorpusislimitedinscopeaswellasrelief.Archerv.State,851S.W.2d157,161162(Tenn.1993).AstheSupremeCourtheldinArcherv.State,aproperpetitionforhabeascorpusreliefmaybebroughtatanytime,whilethepetitionerisincarceratedtocontestavoidjudgmentoranillegalconfinement.Theremedyofahabeaswritislimitedtocaseswherethejudgmentisvoidorthetermofimprisonmenthasexpired.Further,"theonlyreliefthatcanbegivenaprisonerinastatehabeascorpusproceedingisrelease."Statev.Warren,740S.W.2d427,428(Tenn.Crim.App.1986). Asageneralrule,Tennesseecourtswillnotentertainacasethatismoot.Acasewillgenerallybeconsideredmootifitnolongerservesasameanstoproviderelieftotheprevailingparty.SeeMcIntyrev.Traughber,884S.W.2d134,137(Tenn.App.1994).Thetwomostrecognizedexceptionstothemootnessruleincludeissuesofgreatpublicinterestandimportancetotheadministrationofjusticeandissuescapableofrepetitionyetevadingreview.Id.Whethertotakeupcasesthatfitintooneoftherecognizedexceptionstothemootnessdoctrineisdiscretionarywiththeappellatecourts.Id.  ItisapparentthattheinstantcaseismootsinceAppellantisnolongerinstatecustody.Moreover,fromourreviewoftherecord,itdoesnotappearthatthiscasefallswithinoneoftheexceptionstothemootnessdoctrine.
