FACTS   Thedefendantenteredhisguiltypleastoburglary,theftandDUIonJanuary8,1997.Hewassentencedtoeleven(11)monthsandtwentynine(29)daysforDUItobefollowedbysix(6)yearsonCommunityCorrectionsfortheburglaryandthefts.HerequestedthathisreportdateontheDUIbedelayedforashortperiodoftimesothathecouldgethisaffairsinorder.ThetrialcourtcompliedandgavethedefendantuntilJanuary18,1997,toreport. ThedefendantwenttoTexasimmediatelyaftersentencinganddidnotreporttothejailathisscheduledtime.Somemonthslater,thedefendantwasarrestedinTexasontheviolationwarrant.ThedefendantclaimedhewenttoTexastoseehissonandwasinvoluntarilyhospitalizedwhilethere,preventinghisscheduledreporting.  REVOCATIONOFCOMMUNITYCORRECTIONS   AtrialcourtmayrevokeCommunityCorrectionsandresentenceadefendantuponfindingthedefendantviolatedthetermsandconditionsofCommunityCorrections.Tenn.CodeAnn.4036106(e)(4).RevocationofaCommunityCorrectionssentenceissubjecttoanabuseofdiscretionstandardofreview,ratherthanadenovostandard.Statev.Harkins,811S.W.2d79,82(Tenn.1991).DiscretionisabusedonlyiftherecordcontainsnosubstantialevidencetosupporttheconclusionofthetrialcourtthataviolationoftheCommunityCorrectionssentencehasoccurred.Id. Thefailuretoreporttobeginserviceofasentenceisacriminaloffense.Tenn.CodeAnn.3916609(a)(2).Thedefendantclaimedinvoluntaryhospitalizationpreventedhimfromdoingso.However,thedefendanttestifiedhehadaccesstoatelephoneforthree(3)monthsbutfailedtoinformanyoneinTennesseeofhiswhereaboutsorstatusofhospitalization.Thetrialcourtwasobviouslyunimpressedwiththedefendantsexplanation. ThedefendantfurthercontendsthefailuretoreportoccurredpriortothetimehewastoactuallybegintheCommunityCorrectionsprogram.Thisisnodefense.SeeStatev.Stone,880S.W.2d746,748(Tenn.Crim.App.1994)(findingrevocationofprobationisproperwheredefendantcommitsanotheroffenseafterentryofjudgmentbutbeforeprobationaryperiodbegins). ThetrialcourtisinamuchbetterpositiontoassesscredibilitythanthisCourtsinceitcanassesstheappearanceanddemeanorofthedefendant.Thetrialcourtimplicitlyfoundthedefendantsabsencefromthisstateformonthswithoutnotifyinglocalauthoritiestobeinexcusable.WeconcludethedefendanthasfailedtoprovethetrialcourtabuseditsdiscretioninrevokingCommunityCorrections.
