Tenn.CodeAnn.3912101,thecriminalattemptstatute,states,inpertinentpart:8 8 (a)Apersoncommitscriminalattemptwho,actingwiththekindofculpabilityotherwiserequiredfortheoffense:8 8 ...8 8  (3)Actswithintenttocompleteacourseofactionorcausearesultthatwouldconstitutetheoffense,underthecircumstancessurroundingtheconductasthepersonbelievesthemtobe,andtheconductconstitutesasubstantialsteptowardthecommissionoftheoffense.8 8 (b)Conductdoesnotconstituteasubstantialstepundersubdivision(a)(3)unlesstheperson'sentirecourseofactioniscorroborativeoftheintenttocommittheoffense.(Emphasisadded).Baseduponthisrecord,Iwouldfindthatthe"entirecourseofaction"ofthesetwotwelveyearoldgirlswasnot stronglycorroborativeofintenttocommitseconddegreemurderandthattheevidencewasinsufficientasamatteroflaw.Inlookingatthe"entirecourseofaction,"weshouldrememberthattheseweretwelveyearoldgirls,notexplosivetotingterrorists.
