Theclaimanttestifiedthathehasdifficultystanding,walking,squatting,sittingandsleepingthathedidnothavebeforetheaccident,andthatheisnolongerabletowork.Hisconditioninterfereswithhishuntingandfishing.  Doctorshavedeterminedthathehasdegenerativejointdiseaseandsynovitisoftheleftknee.ThereisnomedicalevidencethathisconditioniscausallyconnectedtotheworkrelatedaccidentofOctober1,1993.  Thetrialcourtawardedpermanentpartialdisabilitybenefitsonthebasisofseventyfivepercenttotheleftleg.Appellatereviewisdenovoupontherecordofthetrialcourt,accompaniedbyapresumptionofcorrectnessofthefindingsoffact,unlessthepreponderanceisotherwise.Tenn.CodeAnn.section506225(e)(2).  Unlessadmittedbytheemployer,theemployeehastheburdenofproving,bycompetentevidence,everyessentialelementofhisclaim.Mazanecv.AetnaIns.Co.,491S.W.2d616(Tenn.1973).Hemustprove,amongotherthings,thathisinjuryaroseoutofhisemployment.Inordertoestablishthataninjurywasonearisingoutoftheemployment,thecauseoftheinjurymustbeproved.Inallbutthemostobviouscases,causationmayonlybeestablishedbyexpertmedicaltestimony.Ormanv.WilliamsSonoma,Inc.,803S.W.2d672,676(Tenn.1991).  Inthepresentcase,theresimplyisnomedicalevidenceeitherthattheaccidentatworkcausedtheinjuryorthatitaggravatedapreexistingcondition,causingthedisability.Moreover,thecausalconnectionisnotobviousfromthecircumstances.Wethereforefindthattheevidencepreponderatesagainstanyawardofpermanentdisabilitybenefits.
