Forthereasonsstatedherein,wereversethejudgmentofthetrialcourt. Atthetimeofthetrial,theplaintiff,RichardK.McCullerswas37yearsold.Inearly1995,theplaintiffbeganworkingforthedefendantasafurniturepainter.OnNovember22,1995,hesufferedanonthejobinjurywhenhecaughtawoodframethatfellfromabuggyhewaspushing.Approximatelyoneweekaftertheaccident,theplaintiffwasdiagnosedwithaleftinguinalherniaandatraumaticleftepididymitis.Bothoftheseconditionseventuallyresolvedthrougheitherantibioticsorsurgery.Theplaintiffsufferednopermanentimpairmentorreceivedanyrestrictionsasaresultofeithercondition.̀ OnMay5,1996,theplaintiffconsultedDr.CharlesHughesregardingpain,numbnessandtinglinginhisleftleg.HegaveDr.HugheshishistorywhichincludedtheNovember22,1995injury.TheplaintiffalsotoldDr.Hughesthathehadlosttwentypoundsintheprevioussixmonths.Dr.Hughesdiagnosedtheplaintifftohaveacompressedsciaticnerve.Heopinedthattheplaintiffssciaticawasbroughtonbecausehewassothinthat,at149pounds,hedidnothaveenoughmuscleandfattopreventcompressionofthesciaticnerve.Dr.HughesstatedthattheplaintiffsworkinjuryofNovember22,1995wasnotthecauseofhiscondition.Heassignedtheplaintiffanimpairmentratingof5%tohisleftlegandplacednorestrictionsontheplaintiffsphysicalactivities.Dr.Hughesalsoindicatedthattheplaintiffsconditionimprovedsignificantlyoverhiscourseoftreatmentandthattheplaintiffmightcompletelyrecover. Attrial,theplaintiffagainstatedthathehadlostasignificantamountofweightandattributedthisweightlosstohisonthejobinjury.However,medicalrecordswhichareincludedintherecordonappealindicatethattheplaintiffweighed150poundsseveralmonthsbeforeandonemonthaftertheinjury. Inworkerscompensationcases,thescopeofreviewofthisCourtonissuesoffactisdenovoupontherecordofthetrialcourt,accompaniedbyapresumptionofthecorrectnessofthefindings,unlessthepreponderanceoftheevidenceisotherwise.Tenn.CodeAnn.506225(e)(2).Theplaintiffinaworkerscompensationsuithastheburdenofprovingeveryelementofhiscasebyapreponderanceoftheevidence.Tindallv.WaringParkAssociation,725S.W.2d.935,937(Tenn.1987).Inallbutthemostobviouscases,causationmayonlybeprovedbyexperttestimony.Dorrisv.INAInsuranceCompany,764S.W.2d538(Tenn.1989).Dr.Hughesattributedtheplaintiffsconditiontohislowweightandspecificallyruledouttheplaintiffsonthejobaccidentasacauseforhiscondition.Theplaintiffstestimonythathelosttwentypoundsasaresultofhisinjuryatworkisrebuttedbythedocumentaryevidencewhichshowsa1pounddifferenceintheplaintiffsweightbeforeandaftertheaccident.TheevidencedoesnotpreponderateinfavorofafindingthattheplaintiffssciaticaorhisthinnesswascausedbyhisNovember22,1995onthejobinjury. TheonlyevidenceintherecordregardingthepermanenceoftheplaintiffsinjuryisDr.Hughesstatements.Whenhewasaskedwhetherhecouldgiveareasonablerangeoftimewithinwhichtheplaintiffwillrecover,Dr.Hughesstatedthat ThesearesubjectivefindingsandtheydonthaveapredictablehealingpatternthatIcanspeculateabout.Thisstatementindicatesthatthereisapossibilitythattheplaintiffsconditionisnotpermanent.NostatementmadebyDr.Hughessuggeststhatthemedicalfactorsindicatingpermanenceoutweighthosetothecontrary.SeeOwensIllinois,Inc.v.Lane,576S.W.2d348,350(Tenn.1978).Theevidencedoesnotpreponderateinfavorofafindingthattheplaintiffssciaticnerveinjuryispermanent.
