Theclaimant,Flowers,is43yearsoldandahighschoolgraduate.Shehasacertificateasanursingassistant,butnoothervocationaltrainingoreducation.Shehasworkedcontinuouslyfortheemployersince1972,inavarietyofjobsrequiringrepetitiveuseofherhands.  OnDecember6,1993,theclaimantslippedandfellatwork,landingonthepalmsofherhands.Althoughherwristsandhandshadbotheredherbeforethefall,shewasnotdisabledandhadnotseenadoctor.  Followingthefall,shesawDr.RonaldBingham,whoorderedNCS/EMGstudiesanddiagnosedbilateralcarpaltunnelsyndrome,moderateontheleftandmoderatetomoderatelysevereontheright.Anotherdoctordiagnosed,inadditiontobilateralcarpaltunnelsyndrome,carpometacarpalsubluxationandarthritisoftherightthumb.Hercarpaltunnelsyndromewasfoundtobecausedbyrepetitiveuseofherhandsandwristsatworkandthesubluxationcausedandthearthritisaggravatedbythefallatwork.  Dr.Bourlandassignedapermanentimpairmentratingof15.8%totheclaimant'srightarmandnonetotheleft.Dr.JosephBoalsassignedpermanentimpairmentratingsof20%toeacharm.Sheisunabletoperformherformerdutiesfortheemployerandhaspainandnumbnessinbothhands.Shecannotoperateakeyboard.Onevocationalexpertestimatedherindustrialdisabilityat6065%;anotheropinedshewouldbeeligibleforfewerthan25%ofallavailablejobs.  Thechancellorawardedpermanentpartialdisabilitybenefitsbasedon50%tobotharms.Appellatereviewisdenovoupontherecordofthetrialcourt,accompaniedbyapresumptionofcorrectnessofthefindingsoffact,unlessthepreponderanceoftheevidenceisotherwise.Tenn.CodeAnn.section506225(e)(2).Theextentofaninjuredworker'sdisabilityisanissueoffact.Jaskev.MurrayOhioMfg.Co.,750S.W.2d150(Tenn.1988).  Theextentofaninjuredworker'svocationaldisabilityisafactualquestionmeasuredbythetrialcourt'sassessmentofmanyfactors,includingage,education,skillsandtraining,localjobopportunities,capacitytoworkatthekindsofemploymentavailableinherdisabledconditionandextentofmedicalimpairment.Clarendenv.BaptistMemorialHospital,796S.W.2d685(Tenn.1990).
