TBA YLD district representatives are busy planning public and legal service projects across the state as part of the group's annual Statewide Public Service Day. Projects range from fundraisers for local charities and CASA agencies to pro bono projects to general service to the community. See a list of current projects and watch for more details and additional events as they become available here.

District 1
Counties: Carter, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, Washington

Event: Sponsoring a Bears from the Bench public service project to collect stuffed animals for local Juvenile Court judges to give to the abused and neglected children who appear in their courtrooms. New stuffed animals will be collected throughout the month of May as part of the 2013 Law Day celebration. The project is designed to make courtrooms and judges less intimidating for children.

District 3
County: Knox

Event: Connecting lawyers with several volunteer opportunities around the Knoxville area through the “May You Serve” initiative – a collaborative effort of the KBA Barristers, TBA YLD and KBA Access to Justice Committee. Opportunities in May include the AGAPE Outreach Home on May 11, YWCA on May 15 and Leslie House on May 21.

District 4
Counties: Bledsoe, Blount, Bradley, Loudon, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Polk, Rhea, Roane

Event: Holding a supplies drive for Haven House, a women’s shelter in Maryville.

District 5
County: Hamilton

Event: Hosting a fundraiser on May 23 to provide backpacks, books and teddy bears to children served by CASA in the Chattanooga area. The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Sugar's Ribs on Broad St. Drinks and appetizers will be available for anyone who makes a $20 donation or brings a backpack with school supplies or a stuffed animal.  See the invite and RSVP online.

District 6
Counties: Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Jackson, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Van Buren, Warren, White

Event 1: Hosting a corn hole tournament on June 1 to raise money for the Genesis House Domestic Violence Shelter in Cookeville.
Event 2: Hosting a golf tournament on June 15 to raise money for Cookeville Regional Medical Center's Foundation Cancer Fund.

District 7
Counties: Cannon, Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Marion, Rutherford, Sequatchie

Event: Collecting used eye glasses, sunglasses, plastic and metal frames, or financial donations throughout the months of April and May to support the Rutherford County Noon Lions Club in its Lions’ Vision Mission. Donated item will then be given to those in need of glasses who cannot afford them.

District 8
Counties: Macon, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, Wilson

Event: Hosting a Law Merit Badge Program with the Walton Trail District of the Boy Scouts in March.

District 10

District 11

Event: Presenting a Civics & Law Academy on June 7 to the Boys and Girls Club.

District 12
Counties: Benton, Carroll, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Henry, Lake, Obion, and Weakley counties

Event: Giving a presentation to the local high school criminal justice class about the legal profession.

District 13
Counties: Chester, Decatur, Fayette, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Lauderdale, McNairy, Madison, Tipton

Event 1: Hosting “Pour Your Heart Out for CASA” – a joint fundraiser with the Jackson Madison County Bar Association YLD – to raise money for the local CASA program. The event will take place May 30 at 5:30 p.m. at Flatiron Grille, 1160 Vann Drive, Jackson 38305.
Event 2: Conducting training sessions for local librarians on how to use the free online legal resource Online and raising money to fund dedicated computers for the service in each library.

District 14
County: Shelby

Event: Hosting a Saturday legal clinic with the National Bar Association Ben F. Jones Chapter on June 8. The event will take place at Benjamin L. Hooks Library at 3030 Poplar Ave. in Memphis.
