Scott Bloch, the former head of the Office of Special Counsel under George W. Bush, was sentenced yesterday to one day in jail, 24 months of probation, a $5,000 fine and 200 hours of community service after pleading guilty to the misdemeanor charge of destroying government property. Block admitted to hiring an outside computer company to delete files from several government computers, including his own, though he claimed he did so to remove viruses.
