On January 21st, 2014, Terrence L. Olsen, Esq. and Officer John Bobo gave a seminar on immigration enforcement & removal processes.  Terrence L. Olsen, Esq. of Olsen Law Firm is an attorney in Chattanooga, TN who practices Immigration & Nationality Law exclusively, and is the chair of the immigration section of the Tennessee Bar Association.  Officer John Bobo of ICE-ERO-New Orleans Field Office is the supervisory detention and deportation officer in Chattanooga, TN.

Topics covered during the seminar included the following: VAWA, DACA, removal process, etc.  VAWA allows an abused spouse or child of a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident or an abused parent of a U.S. Citizen to self-petition for lawful status in the United States, receive employment authorization and access public benefits.  DACA, which is also known as deferred action, is for certain undocumented young people who came to the U.S. as children and have pursued education or military service here.
The removal process includes the steps that precede the removal of a foreign national from the United States.  The following is one example of this process: 1) The individual is arrested and jailed; 2) The individual is detained in a detention center; 3) The individual is presented in immigration court; and 4) The individual is removed from the United States.
